After a hellish half term teaching across 3 bubbles and 10 year groups, I've finally downed tools and made it to Cornwall! I deliberately chose a place with walking access to the most beautiful valley and took advantage of that extra hour to venture out on Sunday morning (would not have done that 3 years ago!).
Mr Slinky came with me on a reconnaissance mission for a run at his super speedy pace at a later date (apparently I'm soooo slow & take too many photos! π€£). We practically had the place to ourselves. It was so atmospheric - sunshine streaming through trees, trails carpeted with jewelled leaves, the omnipresent sound of rushing water and the last vestiges of the clay mining industry scattered about.
It was exactly the place I needed to be in for my head, heart & soul. I guess like many people I really haven't been very kind to myself lately - work just took over.
Unfortunately the dreaded plantar fascitis kicked in with a vengeance afterwards so I have been reduced to icing my foot & stretching, interspersed with the 'holy trinity' - a good book, fire & red wine ππ₯π·.
Be kind to yourselves and enjoy your autumn runs. π β₯οΈπ

It is indeed Oldgirlruns ! It's an area we know really well but the first time we've discovered the Luxulyan valley. What a joy! I think we'll be back for more... π
Woodland is so restorative isn't it Lifluf ? The terrain was quite mixed actually - I walked down all the steep slopes but there were flat pathways in the valley and hilly slopes which weren't too evil on the way back up! Happy runnings to you. π

You absolutely deserved this. 'You can't pour from an empty cup' so remember to look after 'you' as you're important. Well done on getting away and getting out and I hope the foot improves π
Gosh that's so true! I'll be quoting the 'empty cup' at colleagues next week! The ice, stretches & rest worked wonders so I had a restorative walk in woodland today. Happy autumn running to you.πππ³π
There's some great images with this quote on too. Enjoy your well-earned break π Remember also when people ask if your cup is half full or half empty that it's refillable!
Ah thank you! It's doing me the world of good. Can't believe I left my support socks at home so had a mad dash to a local Boots 5 mins before closing yesterday to spend a small fortune on a plantar fascitis support sock with integrated gel heel insert. After ice, stretches & rest it's much better and the socks were worth it - hardly any pain today and a glorious woodand walk. ππ
Hope your foot issues are much better now & you're enjoying some great autumnal runs ππ³πΏοΈπ xx
What a gorgeous place to run! I'm glad you were able to take the time to be kind to yourself and make the trip there. Hopefully the plantar fasciitis doesn't lay you up for too long.
Thanks Sask! The countryside in Cornwall is beautiful and it's not far from either coast so you can have the best of both worlds.
A last minute support sock purchase along with ice, stretches & rest has sorted out the pesky PF. Hoping to fit in another run & more walks while I'm here. Happy autumn runs to you πππ
