Today was a 45 minute run the longest I've done in 7 weeks apparently. Apart from another Bluetooth connection issue😡 the run was fine. As I'd started later there were rather too many cyclists towards the end, so a bit of dodging to avoid being run off the track by men in lycra was needed ! But I was pleased to see I seemed to run at a very consistent speed.
Thinking ahead I'm trying to work out routes to use as I run for longer. I prefer off roads but that is limited without driving which for some reason I just can't bring myself to do. There are some smaller villages that would be nice to run round but the roads to get there have no pavements. I'll have to get the map out I think or get over my aversion to driving to run.
Very Autumnal this morning, very cool, clear blue skies when I started off but I just by love all the signs of Autumn appearing in the countryside.
Happy running x

Good run for you today dijep, apart from the cyclists, not Autumn this morning, more like winter, the minimum temperature in parts of Scotland was 3C in Glasgow and 0C in some parts of the Highlands.
Yes I heard frost mentioned for parts of Scotland yesterday on the weather forecast. This year the seasons seem to have changed very suddenly. Extra layers needed 😊
Autumn has come early but let's embrace it. I know what you mean about driving to run, but have just decided that new routes are necessary, so on non work days I will drive to new running routes to avoid road running.
I've literally just put the ge map away and I think I will have to start driving sometimes. Housing estates get a bit boring after a while and although I love my railway track trail sadly its not that long.
Well done on your 45 minute run dijep 😊👏🏼. It is a tad cooler of late. I'm heading out shortly to do my 5km of week 4, but I've been procastinating doing jobs...... really need to head out.
Thank you for your beautiful photos. Perhaps I should look for signs of autumn too and that might spur me on.
I'm lucky that by the end of my 5 minute warm up walk I am virtually on to my country tracks and woodland trails and can stay off road if I wish. However, I am tempted to jump in the car one morning and drive to the coast so that I can run by the sea 🌊 .
Oh I'd love to run by the sea. Before Covid I'd hoped to be able to run while on holiday on Islay off the west coast of Scotland sadly all cancelled ☹️ The sea is a bit too far just for a run being in the middle of Yorkshire. But I've found a few spots nearby I could drive to and then run on trails.
A 45 minute run is good going and well done on it being your longest for almost two months. I know what you mean about pavements! When I'm driving or going somewhere I'm looking to see if it is handy for running 😂😂😂
Finding longer routes is a challenge. When I started c25k I avoided hills all the time and as I stayed half way up one it meant driving to the flat for every run. In February I started tackling hills which freed me up to run the hilly roads from my house. I’ve since moved to a flat area and now run 3k on flat Roads to reach the start of off road hilly sections. I find taking possession of the road helps. I’m very aware of changing sides of the road depending on the bends so that traffic from both directions can always see me. I always look up and wave at cars coming towards me to say “I register you, thanks for registering me and giving space”. I hope you find suitable routes. Happy running 🤗
Thanks for this Grannyhugs, I'm in a similar position to the one you described all hills except in one direction ! I have made a plan that on my shorter 30 minutes runs I will start to tackle them.
Sadly the roads without pavements are just too busy to run on, but I know what you mean about showing you've acknowledged cars. It's something I do when I am walking roads without pavements.
I've been studying the map and I think I've got a few ideas now.
I treated hills like c25k, short steep incline, long downhill, building up repeats until within a month or so I was able to tackle long elevation gains. I do still have to remind myself this every time I tackle a new hill but that's just gremlins taking over. Good luck, hills really can be great. 🤗
What a wonderful montage Dijep. Thank you for posting. Definitely cooler in the mornings now. Was trying to figure out how I managed to clock up over 2k on my way out but when I ran back it was under two k. My son said ‘Probably cos you were not running on the same side of the road!’ Never thought of that!
Thanks Timotea, I love taking photos only with my phone, at least now I have some where to post them. That's just the sort of thing my son would work out!
Those pictures are beautiful dijep 👍👍 I love this time of year the colours are so magical.
I know what you mean about driving to a run. I had to do that when I ran for 60 mins and will probably need to do it again for the longer runs. My run yesterday saw another runner come past me from behind, going at fair pace but nearly knocking me over in the process. I dread to think what a bike would have been like.
Not sure I'm confident enough to run against traffic yet🥴. Wherever you run stay safe😉
Thanks Allbaron glad you liked the photos. I know what you mean about running in traffic I think I'd only be happy on very quiet roads. I think I've an idea of a couple of new routes now 🤞
I really like autumn but I'm hoping this is just a temporary introduction to autumn for a few weeks. Good run today, like you I haven't driven to a run yet but I do quite like the idea of either being dropped off and running home or just running from home and being picked up. Hope you manage to find some new routes
