An autumnal 8k

It was about 7.30 when I left the house this morning, sitting in the car I could see the temperature was only 6 degrees, I decided a t-shirt was not going to be enough this morning so I popped back for another layer. By the time I got to my running route (Brampton Valley way) it was still only 7 degrees and feeling decidedly nippy. With my old school mp3 player and an audio book I was off on a steady plod up the old railway line, 4k up and 4k back down. Not many people out this morning, in the whole run I just saw three very serious looking Lycra clad cyclists and that was it. No speed records set this morning, just about 56 mins but it was lovely fresh autumn morning and an enjoyable run. I hope everybody else is enjoying the autumn weather, perfect running weather I think, when its not raining that is :)

Looks lovely. I had planned a run today for after work, when I saw the forecast, but felt a bit “off” yesterday, had a dreadful night last night, overslept and phoned in sick. Just feel weak, headachey and my eyes hurt when I move them. I have a feeling the damned “ PCWorld bug” has got me already. I haven’t had a cold since I left that place and I’ve only been back 6 weeks.

So I am dosing myself with Vit C, homemade rosehip syrup and I’m cooking chicken chasseur for me and my also poorly son. I know it’s supposed to be chicken soup for colds etc but I don’t like that.🤣🤣

I really wanted a nice long run but I’m out of breath walking upstairs at the moment- even with inhalers. So I am enjoying your run vicariously - it looks very much like my fav route here, also an old railway line.

I think a lot of germs are work based, I used to get really bad colds but since I retired two years ago I haven't had one. Yes its a good route, the occasional dog walker and cyclist but earlier mornings its nice and quiet, just the way I like it :) Take it easy Lou, I am sure you will be back out there again soon . . .

We always blamed it on the air recycling all the germs round and round. Also the air con at work sucks in an awful drain smell and blows that round the store- has done for nearly 20 years now since it opened and no-one seems to be able to clear it. I’ve phoned environmental health, water board, the man who owns the site, head office facilities .... they all have different ideas but none work. I don’t think that helps us. ☹️

Glad you enjoyed your run today orange guy, I went a short run also, the first time I wore joggers and a light jumper on instead of shorts and a T shirt because it was a little chilly outside, in fact I noticed a touch of frost on grass which the sun hadn't got at, this morning I reran run 3 of week 6 from the C25K app, I love Laura saying at the end that ".you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER" I have been officially a runner since June 2018 but I never get tired of her saying that. 🏃

Wow, I don't think we have had any frost here in Northants as yet but this morning was the first time I needed more than a t-shirt for some time.

The official minimum temperature where I live in Central Scotland was minus 1C/30F at 7am, it's the first morning since March that the roofs of the houses nearby had a thin white coating of frost, I went to Asda at 8.45 to buy a good pair of walking boots for my longer walks during the winter months, I also bought a new pair of quality trainers, double the price of my now in the bin old trainers which leaked even if it didn't rain, got back home, changed into my proper running shoes and cap and as I mentioned before reran run 3 of week 6. 😊 🏃

A tad nippy - good job you went back for another layer! I am actually quite looking forward to getting some of my winter running gear out of hibernation....its coming round quick!

Yes it's about 14 miles long in total. I just have to remember that ever how far I go I have to turnaround at some point and do the same distance back to the car park again 😀 ... sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes not! 😁

What a beautiful route. I for one am loving the drop in temperature, personally it makes running so much more enjoyable. Happy running

Yes I agree, it won't be long before we are having those crisp frosty mornings again, the temp is about 4 degrees this morning, even colder than yesterday. No more shorts and t-shirts for those early morning runs I think...
