I’ve been struggling a bit lately with minor niggly health issues and also lack of motivation but this morning, even though it took me a while, I couldn’t resist such a beautiful morning. So off I went... kids were already in school, the binmen had actually come round early for once and it was nice and peaceful. I have been suffering with what feels like mild stitch in the right side for a while now and keep thinking I’ve either slept awkwardly or pulled something. And today it was quite painful all throughout my run. But I managed 5k - albeit slower than usual even though it was a nice flat route but I’ll take the 5k thankyou very much.

I think I’ve found out what the “ stitch” is though. 😕. On Saturday I had to go for a routine kidney scan- following up on a couple of waterworks and lower abdomen pain I’d had last year. Seem to have been fine so far this year though( touch wood )but I thought it was as well to attend and it couldn’t hurt. How wrong was I??

I hopped up on the couch and lay back relaxed expecting a quick scan and a “ all ok”. When she got to my right side I nearly leapt off the bed. She was applying a bit of pressure but not loads but it was really painful just under my ribs. So she asked me to roll into my left side with my back towards her and scanned again. Yyeeowww!!! Very sore!! “ oh yes that will probably be the cyst on your kidney. Did you know you had one?“

“NO!! I didn’t!! “

“Oh yes they can be a bit uncomfortable- a bit like stitch”.

“Oh!! “. She told me most people over 50 have at least one and they aren’t usually any bother. Oh okay then. So I rolled onto my back again and was just relaxing ...when she said she’d better check my bladder too while I was there. If I thought the kidney pain was bad I had no idea!!! Excruciating!! She had a good old prod around there!! Bladder is fine. Apparently I also have a cyst on my right ovary!! About the size of a satsuma!! (When I told my son who had walked up with me and waited outside, he wanted to know whether this was one of the larger looser-skinned satsumas ? Or the smaller smooth-skinned ones that are supposed to be easy peelers but aren’t? )Trust him!! The nurse said about 4cms across, which is plenty flipping big enough Thankyou. Anyway the upshot of all this is that since she has prodded and poked me my right side of tummy and my right side round to back waist is bl**dy sore now!! Not just uncomfortable but sore!! So I have to see my dr for a review of the scan this week and go back in a month to see if they have grown or shrunk. If they shrink ...great ,if they’ve grown they will review the situation. Her parting shot!! “ dont worry”. Yeah okay love - it’s not your insides !!!!

Still at least I know what the” stitch” was. I seem to get one thing better ( my chest isn’t too bad and my hip is great now) and something else drops off or breaks 🤣🤣🤣

Oh glory! No wonder you had a stitch with all that going on! I hope the next few weeks give the cysts chance to shrink (your son’s comments have quite put me off satsumas!) - are you able to run on the meantime or will it be too sore? All the best.

Well I managed 5k this morning but it wasn’t very comfortable. We’ll see how it goes. My son has a knack of saying exactly what’s in his head without filtering it at all. 🙄

Oh dear - they do say aging doesn’t come alone! Still if she’s not concerned you’ll just have to try to hope it doesn’t cause too many issues until you see the gp. 🤞🏻 It’s promising that you managed 5k this morning. I had a busy time with childcare most of last week and all weekend so I’ve had a much longer than usual ‘rest’ period. With girls of 2, 6 and 11 you can imagine how much ‘rest’ I got! On the bright side they helped bake enough cake to feed us for a week!! 🤣 Hope your current pain settles soon.

Oh I can imagine how busy you’ve been. But lots of baking is a bonus. I love baking - made Turkey, leek and stuffing pasties last week. And I usually have at least one baking day a week.
