Today was the day for an easy run, and with the sun shining and early morning, I had lots of motivation. Planing my route, my perceived effort I would run, maybe putting some strides into the end... all the things I was thinking in my first km. What I was not paying attention to was the road: cobblestones, and uneven / uprooted cobblestones at that.
I fell. Spectacularly - like you'd see in a comic maybe? I must say this was the biggest fall I've taken at all whilst running - and it shocked me!! I was on the floor for a bit, and because it was rush hour so many people saw me. Somehow a paramedic was nearby (not for me!), but he came over and checked that I could still move / I was fine. And I was fine, but in pain. I was tempted to go home, but I'd really wanted to go running, so I ended up continuing.
The actual run was good! I've been wanted to extend my easy runs a bit to keep up (in proportion) with my increasing longer runs -so I ran for 36 minutes - 6.5km. And mostly negative splits (5:55, 5:50, 5:40, 5:26, 5:29, 5:36, 5:18). In the end I put in one 'stride' - they're harder than they look, especially at the end of a run! I enjoyed the sprint to finish I must say.
Overall okay! But when I got home I realise I've ripped my new winter leggings and ripped my knees too! Not the prettiest but I think it's all surface damage.
