When my parents asked me what I wanted for my 40th birthday I knew I needed a pair of trail shoes. The local country park is starting to get muddy and covered in damp leaves and because it is hilly in places I don't want to fall.
So today I thought I had better go to my local running shop before Nottingham goes into local lockdown. I've brought 2 pairs of running shoes from them now and both pairs I have initially been presented with are the ones I have been looking at online and the ones I've ended up buying.
As it is obligatory to post a photo of new shoes please raise a glass to the Brooks Cascadia 15.....

Very nice, hope you have many happy miles/kilometres in those!
I thought I was going to be saying the same thing this week but actually I had the opposite experience.
I also decided a couple of weeks ago that I would get some trail shoes. I’ve been running very happily in my Brooks Addiction 13s for the past 18 months and had thought I would probably get the Cascadias as everything I saw online suggested they were the nearest trail shoe equivalent.
So off I went to my local running shop on Sunday and tried a pair on but they felt a bit tight and just not quite right.
Tried on a couple of others and the ones that felt right were the Mizuno Wave Daichi 4s which I tested this morning and felt as if I had known them all my life! Just goes to show how different we all are, and I’m glad I didn’t just order online but went into the shop and tried them.
I definitely think its better to try on first. I tried a couple of others, a saucony and New Balance but they just didn't feel right. When I got on the treadmill I fell in love. I just hope they are as comfortable as my Ghost 12s.
Snap EThomas! We have matching pairs for our birthdays. 😀
I didn't wear mine yesterday for my first 10k, as the route was nice and even and I felt it was too long to break in new shoes. I shall be giving mine their first outing on my next 4k run.
