More shoe porn!

Couldn't wait for the shops to open in Scotland so I did several online gait analyses and then decided to order three different pairs to see what would work best. My husband is so sick of me obsessing over trainers he no longer cares how much I spend as long as the saga of my hours of research and talking about them can be over.

So it came down to Ons Cloudflow - but they were too narrow. Found Nike Pegasus 37 at a much reduced price in the juniors section (I have small feet) - but they were slightly narrow as well. But the Brooks Ghost 12 were just right! So I'm now Goldilocks of the three shoes. Two go back tomorrow and I am a very happy woman!!!

Ooh I love these. I also have small feet...out of interest what size did you order in comparison to your 'everyday' size ?

I went for one size up. I have an ancient pair of Brooks that i bought in a running shop years ago and it was then that I was advised to buy a size bigger. They are soooo comfy. I'm a 4/37 in shoes and 5 in these. If you are size 6 or smaller you could also try the Nike juniors - just under £60 on Nike website. The pegasus were lovely but I opted for max comfort as I have really wide feet. They don't look any different to the adult versions - I don't know if anyone on here knows any different?

My feet are about 3.5 but wear a four in trainers. I also have kids running shoes in size 5... asics. I do have quite narrow feet though and need something quite supportive. Xx

Love the colour 😍 I’ve just got Brooks Transcend 6 they are so comfortable ❤️ massive feet here though so no junior size

I love your approach to running shoe shopping! I like your choice - happy running! 😉

Brilliant choice- I bought the same ones just prior to lockdown- half way through their life already as I did some crazy distances. I’d definitely think of buying the same next time. Happy running 🤗

Good to hear a thumbs up for the Ghosts. I dithered over responsive v comfort but finally decided at my age I should just go for comfort. I've worn them around the house this evening and its like padding about in a pair of cushions. Marvellous!

I think my old shoes were way past their best. So these sre amazing.

I also have a much aggreaved spouse that wishes I hadn’t converted to the cult of running. Something about the converted being the most zealous...

I love them, pretty and practical. I too have small wide feet, not quite square but close😂 I hate shoe shopping. I have three trainers that aren’t too bad, but I’ve had to go up a size and a half. They are Altra, Brooks and Merrell. I like my Merrell best as they have a gortex upper, so my feet stay dry. I struggle with the Altra, won’t be trying them again, just my running style, not the comfort factor, Brooks are great too, I was saving them for my gym days but not so much at the moment! Now to find a comfy pair of walking sandals for my non run days.

Ooh! Nice! 👍 Lovely colour too. I have been wearing Ghosts for about 18 months and they are my favourites. Very comfy from the off. You may have to be careful with the elasticity of the laces though as it’s easy to tie them too tight. Enjoy!

Another vote for the Ghosts! Great. I was wearing them around the house last night and I did exactly that. I had to loosen them right off as my feet were tingling.

Yeah, that’s what happened to me. Very good idea 👍😊 Those laces only came in with Ghost 12 so I made the mistake of going straight out in them after being used to Ghost 11s. Ended up with my left foot laced differently to the right and they work like a dream 😍

I love the new shoes. You have excellent taste. I have just brought a pair of Brooks Ghost 12 as well as a treat for finishing C25K. I did my graduation run in them and found they made a huge difference.

Enjoy them and I hope they bring you luck with your future running.

Congrats on finishing c25k! I had my first run today in them and they were lovely!

So what colour did you go for? You need to write a shoe porn post with photo!!!!

Thank you.

I got the blue and pink ones. They are so comfortable. They were actually the ones I had been debating but was holding off until I could get a proper gait analysis.

Ooh lovely...I'm wearing Brooks Ghost 11's at the mo and patiently waiting for a new pair of the 12's to arrive in the post.

For your info, the 11's have worn exceptionally well, I've run 430 miles in them and they're still looking almost like new...I'll still wear them for a bit longer before relegating them to walking shoes but had birthday money burning a hole in my pocket!

Love the colour you chose, I've gone with a blue & green pair...hard to choose, they're all so lovely 😍

Ooh Fionamags ! They’re gorgeous and I hope you have many happy miles running on them! I have an appointment at my local running shop on 30 Jun which I’m really looking forward to!

Very snazzy!! Love the color!! Not brave enough to order online although I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon. Mine are just about done in. Are they quite light?? I don't really know what I need?? 🤔 How was the online gait analysis?? Sorry lots of questions 😬

Fionamags profile image
FionamagsGraduate10 in reply toAllbarron

I did the one on Brooks's website. Wasn't exactly gait analsis but they ask a lot of questions to work out if you need neutral or support. I came up neutral so figured waiting for gait analysis wasn't really worth it. Also tried the wet foot test (on a pinned post in c25k).

Run and Become offer an online gait analysis where you get someone to video you running and measure your foot so they can make a reccomendation.

My shoes are very light and so comfortable compared to my old ones. I ordered a few pairs from big companies so I don't feel guilty about sending back the rejects.

Not sure when our shops might open up but maybe find out on Thursday what the next stage is and when? Could be worth waiting if its only going to be a couple of weeks?

Allbarron profile image

Yeah I think I'll wait. Not like I'm getting far in this heat. Still musn't grumble🥵

I bought those exact shoes a couple of weeks ago - it's so nice to get a shoe that accomodates my wider feet. I was running in Nike Zooms, in fact they were my second pair, but I always felt a bit heavy footed in them. The Brooks are so bouncy' compared and much lighter when my foot lands.

i love them too - great for wide feet!
