I have been reading a lot of posts lately with people running many k and it made me feel a bit low. Decided last night to get out this morning and do 5k for the (not) Parkrun. Decided on a route. Got a Time Capsule list through from Spotify this morning so ditched the Classical for this. Started well, except it wasn't loud enough. By the time I'd fiddled and put it right I was up the first hill! As I ran I remembered that a couple of weeks ago I said I was going to up my distance by 1km a week (an AlMorr system) I don't know why I did it but at 5k I ended my run and then started another to register my (not) Parkrun and then my 6kπ€·ββοΈ Feeling quite happy that I've finally managed to get back on the road to running a little bit more. I'm not out to achieve great things - I guess I just want to reach that elusive 10k - a bit like I wanted to reach the elusive 5k π€ͺ It's been in the back of my mind subconsciously I think since I had to pull out of Jool's 10k plan with an ankle injury. So the plan now is to stick to the AlMorr plan and see how I get on π and now I get to post in Bridge to 10k too! ππ

AlMorr knows his stuff!
I'd also say please don't ever feel low in yourself. Everyone is different and at different stages. Whether 1 mile or 100 it's the common thread of running; the enjoyment of it and the physical and emotional benefits it brings us, that binds us all together. Well done for getting out. Each run you do will go towards reclaiming that 10k and you will get there πππ

Hi 59er, AlMorr here, that was a good run for you today despite you feeling a bit low, glad you enjoyed the music πΆ as well although it wasn't classical, congratulations on your (not) parkrun.
So for me tomorrow's run will only be 8K, this morning I cycled through 20 metre puddles on that flooded part of my running route, I don't mind the mud but big long puddles, no, so tomorrow I'll run 8K running on the slightly shorter course missing all those long deep puddles.

Sounds like a great idea! You seem to be back on it after that injury!
Yes, I'm enjoying the running more now. I've started to think about slowing my pace and then sometimes going a bit faster to mix it up. Had to watch where I was placing my feet this morning though - mud and sheep's poop - don't want to come a cropper! Thinking about trail shoes?
Yay 59er, great to see you on the bridge and more than half way over already. ππ»ππ»ππ»π€ΈββοΈπββοΈGreat that you got out there again and feeling happier. Itβs hard when injury frustrates a goal especially when others come flying past but keep coaxing yourself along with kindness, and you will find your own running happy ππ€

Thanks jorgeRuns. Yes, I took a leaf out of your book and braved it. The weather was fine which helped and once I got out there I was fine. I must try to be kinder to myself and I love the idea of finding my own running happy π
