Longest run in two weeks

A few things have got in my way since my 5 mile race the other week: busy with garden construction (raised beds) and generally fatigued from the race itself. I also fell off the back step on Monday: no alcohol involved, just multi-tasking in the dark and in bare feet, but tweaked my niggly knee and bruised my right ankle, so my run on Wednesday was sore. This morning the weather had settled and the sun was shining so I went for a long run, taking in one of my favourite routes along a beckside trail and through some woods. The bluebells are coming along and he wild garlic was smelly and in flower. I had hoped for 8k but it was a little over 7, but the last 2k was up a long and tough hill so was walk/run. I feel a bit like7k is a bit of a wall at the moment: I’ve been stuck around this distance for about a month (apart from the race which involved walking towards the end). Hoping that the hills today will help push the distance on a bit on the flat. Happy running everyone πŸ‘

Well done. I love the pics. You’ve motivated me. I’m looking forward to my run later.

And what a great run it was! (Yours, I mean πŸ˜‚)

Looks lovely. 7km is a great distance, nothing wrong with that. If you want to go a bit further you know the drill... start off a bit slower πŸŒπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

I still stick to the formula of one shorter slighter quicker run, one easy 5k and then a longer run each week to build up distance. You like to explore new routes as well I see; definitely up for a challenge! I couldn't just wake up one morning and say "right I am running an 8k today" ...probably my age😊

I’m supposed to be following that pattern too and I did do a limpy 5k on Wednesday. Today was scheduled to be my longer run. I’m just struggling to get beyond 7k on my longer run, and I have a 10k in 6 weeks...

Oh I misunderstood, sorry. You did the right thing to stop at 7k rather than force it and pick up a strain. Still time to get it up to 10k. Today was probably just one of those days when things didn’t quite got to plan..we all have them. Frustrating!!

Ooooh, looks so lovely. πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸΌ Seven k sounds good to me, after your past week’s adventures. My gardening has had me on the IC for a week. So be glad. πŸ˜„

I was a bit sore after my fall which followed three busy physical days! All settled now I hope?

Beautiful route Molly, and absolutely nothing wrong with running 7k. Bet you didn’t think you’d be disappointed in β€˜just’ running 7k when you started running! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ And you will make 10k. There’s no hurry, just slow everything right down 🐌🐌 and it will happen. πŸ‘ŠπŸ‘πŸ˜€

Thank you: you are so right. When I started C25k in October I would never have imagined running 7k. I am putting pressure on myself as I have this 10k booked and others later in the year. However, just being out there today was lovely in itself and I kept reminding myself of that πŸ‘

That looks a gorgeous route, and 7k is a brilliant achievement! I'd be glad with that. :)

It is: it’s a recent discovery and the run downhill at the beginning to get down into the valley is nice: getting back up is tough!

7k is amazing Molly ! When you think about when you started C25K and how far you have come....I’m sure you will get there ! Onwards and upwards to the next run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
