Willow had his vaccine yesterday and feeling a little lethargic so I ran alone this morning.
Firstly, where to go? Secondly, what to listen to?
Worked out some routes on Garmin connect and decided what I like best is free running,
I’ve got new headphones, too much faff to connect headphones connected to more than one thing so I bought a cheap set for my phone the other day. First song that came up was one of Willows so I thought what’s this? and it’s an old album he put together a few years ago called Beidge to Nowhere
Click the next mission in Zombies run and off i went
Nice brisk walk along the road, out of the end of the close and turn right, keep walking telling myself to have a good warm up walk, right again, heading north and I can see the Downs looking beautiful in the sun, a patchwork of fields high on the hills, but oh my that north wind is keen, running now, keeping it nice and gentle, this is fun, mentally working out a 10k route and a 5k route
The music is amazing, perfect for slow running but doesn’t matter to me I don’t run to the beat, I run by feel
Spring flowers in a lot of front gardens.
2k and uh oh.... I can feel my right calf, not hurting but pulling a bit, straighten up, chin in, relax shoulders, plant my feet softly underneath me with every step, run in the road round people faster to overtake but mindful of the calf
3k and it’s either round the outside of the village or through, so pull up the buff and walk through, this isn’t going to be a long run 🏃♀️ and Zombies has finished..... the tracks keep playing, loving this
Smiling I’m about 1 k from home so slower than slow last kilometer smiling then grinning widely and home, cup of tea and tell Willow to put his headphones in and listen to this album, what willow does is spend hours or days making a track, listen to it over and over for a day then rarely listen to it again so we haven’t heard these tracks for years, he’s currently listening and every so often saying he hadn’t realised some of it was so good lol 😂
Have a great weekend all, stretch well and listen to your legs if they twinge slow down and go home....the long runs can wait

What a lovely uplifting post. Sounds like you had a wonderful run this morning. This has just cheered me up no end .
I haven't run since Tuesday after tripping up the stairs carrying a tray of tea and cheese on toast and bruising my left knee and big toe, plus the glute niggle seems to be back again so maybe my trip has aggravated something.
I'm hoping to go out a bit later today, or tomorrow morning. A no pressure run.
Take care of that calf - and I hope Willow gets no nasty side effects from his jab.
Good run for you today Sola, isn't that Willow's second vaccination for Covid 19, glad you enjoyed the music 🎶 you ran to, with so much music choice now it's sometimes hard to find the music you want for a particular run, I just hope Willow won't feel too bad for long after his jab.
Well done. Great post . Hope your calf ok and willow feels better. I had mine 3 weeks ago sore arm but all ok. Have a good weekend and hopefully stays dry 🤗😊
Sounds like a lovely run, despite the calf niggle. Glad Willow doesn’t seem to have any bad side effects. It’s lovely and sunny here too...but oh that wind is cold 🥶
Yes I was caught out by the cold wind, he’s tired but he’s a laid back guy so unless I start making plans to go out and about he’s mostly happy to sit, i didn’t expect him to want to run today, i hope he’s ok too, i fell asleep in the afternoon after my jab and woke to a blinding headache that stayed with me for about a week and was very tired first few days
Good advice about the twinges, I’m giving my after run stretches more attention as I had a tight calf muscle last week which lasted a couple of days. It’s easy to just do the minimum with those stretches, but I hold them now for 45 seconds. No twinges today on my 10K run.
I must admit to being a bit lazy regarding stretches unless i run more than an hour but being more careful as time goes on I’ve pulled those calves both of them in past months
Hope the calf is ok, always sounds busy down there, out on your runs, do you go to devils dyke, i had to pick up a school group from there, obviously a while ago now, when things were normal.
No, Devils Dyke is too far to drive and run although been there in the past, we are a village and the seafront is very busy at the moment
Zombies Run is an app and a game, you can set whatever time you want, listen to your playlist and it cuts in to tell you things bit like c25k did there’s a bit of a story, you collect things on your run and every so often some zombies chase you, if they get really close they growl which is scary and you ..... don’t want to give it all away but it’s a bit of fun
Thanks Couchphoenix I did enjoy my run even though i had to keep it shorter
I still hate when someone’s virtually running and talking with me and starts coughing, we freak at work if someone coughs and get the testing kits straight out lol
It’s lovely to be able to see the South Downs, I smile every day when i go to work and see the green hills and trees
Willows feeling fine now which is good, I got called in to work at half ten last night to sleep in on call and spent half my night washing and folding scrubs, we have an audit Wednesday and are all running round like headless chicks checking everything is up to date lol xx
