Willow had his vaccine yesterday and feeling a little lethargic so I ran alone this morning.
Firstly, where to go? Secondly, what to listen to?
Worked out some routes on Garmin connect and decided what I like best is free running,
I’ve got new headphones, too much faff to connect headphones connected to more than one thing so I bought a cheap set for my phone the other day. First song that came up was one of Willows so I thought what’s this? and it’s an old album he put together a few years ago called Beidge to Nowhere
Click the next mission in Zombies run and off i went
Nice brisk walk along the road, out of the end of the close and turn right, keep walking telling myself to have a good warm up walk, right again, heading north and I can see the Downs looking beautiful in the sun, a patchwork of fields high on the hills, but oh my that north wind is keen, running now, keeping it nice and gentle, this is fun, mentally working out a 10k route and a 5k route
The music is amazing, perfect for slow running but doesn’t matter to me I don’t run to the beat, I run by feel
Spring flowers in a lot of front gardens.
2k and uh oh.... I can feel my right calf, not hurting but pulling a bit, straighten up, chin in, relax shoulders, plant my feet softly underneath me with every step, run in the road round people faster to overtake but mindful of the calf
3k and it’s either round the outside of the village or through, so pull up the buff and walk through, this isn’t going to be a long run 🏃♀️ and Zombies has finished..... the tracks keep playing, loving this
Smiling I’m about 1 k from home so slower than slow last kilometer smiling then grinning widely and home, cup of tea and tell Willow to put his headphones in and listen to this album, what willow does is spend hours or days making a track, listen to it over and over for a day then rarely listen to it again so we haven’t heard these tracks for years, he’s currently listening and every so often saying he hadn’t realised some of it was so good lol 😂
Have a great weekend all, stretch well and listen to your legs if they twinge slow down and go home....the long runs can wait
