Still here just in the background at the minute as not really done anything fantastic in terms of running. I am slowly getting back to fitness after quite a while off. Love reading everyone's achievements. My question is ...Do people 'plan' to go and do 10k or do people find it just happens on a good run day?
Still plodding on.: Still here just in the... - Bridge to 10K
Still plodding on.
On a good day I run just over 5k, so I would have to plan... for a 10k.
It snuck up on me. Started off aiming for 5k and then thought 'ok I'm happy with that'. Then as I got fitter, I started to want to go further, so started increasing distance on one run each week (keeping the 10% rule) until I started to believe I might do 10k, and then I got this mad idea, that I wanted to do 10 miles...(which I did)
I think the most important thing is to be disciplined about getting out to run regularly (I haven't always been able to follow my own advice!) and making running interesting and enjoyable.
Getting back to fitness is a priority. I had a plan to get to 10K and in the days before this community or JuJu’s plan I just increased my weekly long run by 1K. I only wanted to run 10K because I wanted some bling 🙄🏅🏃♀️🙂
Hello Luhan, welcome back! I’m a plodder and have had to plan to get to 10k, there’s no way I could do it otherwise. I’m not quite there yet but getting closer! If you’re still working on your fitness, why don’t you check out ju-ju’s Magic Plan here on the Bridge pinned posts and combine the 2? I think there are other similar plans around as well which you could look at. Happy running!
welcome back. I suggest you come back gradually, and then work towards 10k if that is your goal?
Hi Luhan, I completed C25k over a year ago, then had to ease up due to injuries (too much too soon), so consolidated for a year. Happy to just do 5kms, although printed jujus plan last year.
4/5 weeks ago I was surprised to do 7km, so dug out jujus plan and realised you don't have to chase 10km but just like c25k go for 30 mins time first. So I'm into week3 and going for 60 mins at the end of 8 weeks.
Thank you...I will take your advice and take it step by step. I have entered a 10k race for life but it has been moved to September so I have plenty of time x
