The benchmark was only a 2 mins warm up and 5 mins hard run AND βwalk if you need toβ!! Perfect LEJOG methodology π¬π§ ππ!!
Well, I did need to walk, but I did run hard as instructed! My goodness it felt great π! The fact I knew I could stop when I needed to, actually makes you just go for it, big time! Even though go hard until you need to walk kind of plays with your mind a bit ππ½ββοΈ!
Take note π : Never let it be said that βIβm a rebelβ π€₯π....because I did put my trust in my new Garmin coach and did just that! It goes without saying...he knows far better than I do! π€£
Iβm still waiting for my stats to show up on the garmin display. I just hope that I havenβt lost the data π₯΄, because Iβve always used NRC, but I didnβt want to have too much tech to figure out. Iβm going to add the run to NRC if I ever get to see it π₯΄. It has all of my post graduation runs and achievements and I still absolutely love the NRC runs!! Itβs still my favourite App!
As for the tech?...It was hard enough figuring out which buttons to press to get to and start the run in the plan! π I couldnβt update my walking miles on LEJOG yesterday either. So, my total miles so far is not yet quite right, but no sweat...π . I donβt have any intention of getting all twisted about any of it.
I was in Tolvaddon on Friday. I will only have a couple more miles to add, so John O Groats will still be quite some way away! π So, Tolvaddon is my official Fabulous450 & The Commitments tour location for this week!! π
Iβm on a mission and this is just so much fun!! π Iβm sure Iβll get better with the tech as I go along tooπ€! But as long as this body keeps getting better and better, to be honest....I donβt care! Iβll live with the faux pais! Iβm used to the βimperfectionsβ...π€«π
Happy running Runners! β€οΈ

Brilliant Fabulous! You will get the hang of your Garmin buttons soon enough. I doubt that you have lost your run. It is probably lingering in the ether of the Garmin Connect app/website and will appear when you next connect or update.
Loving the poster for your tour! LEJOG5 starts on Tuesday and I am looking forward to it, although the intricacies of locating my bib number seem to have defeated me for the moment.....π€.
Thanks so much Delly-Dot! π€ Iβm having more excitement just knowing youβre joining in too!! π Love this!! π
The order number will be your Bib number. You can find this located at the top of your payment confirmation email. Hope that helps. Letβs go, go, go!! πππβ€οΈ
Thank you - I haven't had a payment confirmation email and I had to ask them to send me the info. I shall get in touch with them again and chase it up. I think they must have been really busy.
Oh..I see! π Yes, I couldnβt get access to log my mileage yesterday. So Iβve had to request a password reset. Maybe itβs not just me then π₯΄. But Iβm sure it will be sorted.
Iβm looking forward to it too! π€πβ€οΈ
I smiled throughout this and my big Bugs Bunny teeth shot out!! Love your collage at the top ππππ you make me smile so much. Keep going, keep at it and above all...keep being you!
Thanks so much GTFC!! π€π€ Iβve long since come to a great conclusion, just be YOU, everyone else is already taken and life would be a touch dull without a bit of variety! ππ Thatβs what we all bring by being together!! And thatβs somewhat βFantasticβ!! ππβ€οΈ
Nice!!! Love the collage! And visiting The Commitments Tour location... love it! Garmin coach sounds like he is also also providing a lot of fun!
(Gosh, part of me is so glad to experience this tech-physical-apps, gadgets-and smart-phone mash-up world!
We just could have done without COVID-19....and without climate breaking down... and without distancing ourselves from Europe ... and from less of current political skullduggery.... and and and π³π’.....
... ok, sorry... am back thinking about running βΊοΈπ)
You know maybe all of those challenges has been part of us all turning to something of a certainty with running! It wonβt change the world, but you can always change how you live in it and running is a great way to be together from wherever you are!! π
Sounds like youβve found a great new toy! Like you Iβve been having trouble updating my mileage on Lejog - Iβm sure Iβve tried a couple of times with one walk so hope Iβve not messed it up so early on π€π» If I get to Scotland Iβll go past the area I grew up so Iβll need to get a move on!
Hey Sybilw! ππ½ Thanks so much! π€ I donβt think itβs you. It sounds as though there there may be some tech issues.
I believe that Garmin is/was down too, so I will check it out again later or tomorrow. So I might be redeemed by the reason for the tech challenges I had (maybe not though π). If all else fails 9 minutes will be easy to start again tomorrow for the records.
If I get to Scotland π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ Iβll be celebrating big time!! So do remember to leave me a little breadcrumbs, so that I can maybe stop by and enjoy the scenery!! ππβ€οΈ
Yes! They did display a message eventually. Restored my confidence... I did press save! π Itβs far more sophisticated than my usual App. Run done πdata there! π€·π½ββοΈπ
Iβm enjoying using it though. I was just buzzed and told to βmoveβ when I was in the Supermarket. Made me jump a little π². I was tempted ππΌππΌππΌ π€«, but I restrained myself! π! β€οΈ
Yes that move alert can be a nuisance - I pretty quickly switched mine off! Who wants to be told to move when you're sitting on the sofa having a nice glass of wine? Not me!!π
Thanks so much Grannyhugs π€. I usually am Grannyhugs really. But the stats and the Apps, so many gadgets to charge up, fire up and buttons to press, feels a little faffy sometimes. It takes a bit longer than I expect too. Impatience ?π₯΄ ...maybe.
Sounds brilliant Fab, and so much fun to just run flat out for as long as you can but not have to worry about maintaining it for a certain time or distance, I think I might try and incorporate some of that in to my short runs every now and again.
You'll definitely get used to the tech but they can do so much for such small things that only ever used to tell you the time π€ππ
And it sounds like you are well on your way to JoG now too, brilliant, I hope you keep enjoying the journey, it's certainly fun isn't it ππββοΈπ₯³
Yeah...the run hard until you need to stop was there first time Iβd completed a benchmark like that. NRC do it, but they have shorter intervals and walk segments. Our Jeff said itβs 5 minutes...and walk if you feel you need to.
I heard that the Garmin system was down today, so itβs not all me!! ππ½ππ½ But, I did do a lot of pressing trying to get the run started. I wasnβt sure if you start it with the phone App or the watch π€£. Iβm so used to doing it via a phone. Now I know, pressing the app on the phone...well...donβt bother! Anyway Run no1. of plan is complete and I am heading North! πβ€οΈ
Eeeeeeh BTP!! π€ Yeah...I know!! And I had a choice of 3 coaches too. It was like being team captain picking your squad and then lining up to be picked!! π€£π€£
When he said Iβve trained Olympians...well I thought, youβll be just fine!! He did say heβd trained people whoβve never ran before too, but π€«, we wonβt talk about it! πβ€οΈ
Loving how motivated you are π and what an amazing present. I'm sure you'll work the tech out after a couple of runs. Just keep doing what you're doing π
Oh thank you Mum22boys!! π€ Itβs my new BF!! Iβm on Day 2 of my plan tomorrow. Me and Garmin out in the town.. Looking forward to it already. πβ€οΈ
Thatβs a hard benchmark run, me be was walk 2 run 9 walk 2
I was advised to ask questions of google and watch youtube videos when i first got my garmin, it really helped, i love and am slightly obsessed with vo2max and o2 levels
Ooh, 2/9/2!! What did the 9 mins involve WillowandSola ?
I couldnβt run the 5 without stopping. I watch Jeffβs tutorial videos and heβs very good at telling you to walk when you need to (π, I like him π). I carried on again as soon as I was able to π€ͺ. It really was fun and over quickly too!! β€οΈ
Yes my NRC App does as fast as you can, so you kind of judging the pace yourself because you know how long youβve got to sustain it. This approach was definitely different!
βRoom to growβ! ππ! Love that π₯°π₯°. I find it so entertaining! Like a drill sergeant! π but fun!! I have kept βmoveβ it on and when I get the prod, (if itβs safe to do so π), I just do some crazy dances until he goes and bothers someone else! π God knows what messages Iβm going to get going forward! π€£π€£β€οΈ
