Well...week 1 is now complete. I have run and walked every day this week, but no big distances ๐.
My August quest came first, which was to run 3 days per week. Then the LEJOG opportunity came up and I tried to resist, but eventually thought Iโd give it a go (with no unreasonable expectations ๐ค๐). So far, it has been so much fun, despite me being on the snail trail ๐... ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐!!
Today I went out and it was quite a tough start. Toxic 10 perhaps, but I managed to loosen up eventually. I was coaching myself a bit today and recognise that it sort of feels as though Iโm pushing too hard ๐ณ (Or Iโm wimping out ๐คฃ๐คฃ), but whatever it is, itโs important to meet myself where I am at.
So, having experienced a heavy start, Iโve decided to have a couple of days of complete rest (no deliberate LEJOG walk๐คซ). I do think Iโll be able to have longer runs that way.
So, this week โon tourโ (as GTFC has named it..,and I like it ๐).....
โ Iโm off the starting block with LEJOG
โ and Iโve done my 3 run days in my August quest.
Not bad at all! ๐ Most of all....Iโve enjoyed it, every little helps and thereโs more to come!! ๐
Happy running Runners! โค๏ธ

Congratulations on completing your 3 days a week runs for your August Quest, you have done very well, now have a few days break before you continue with Lejog, it will be very interesting to see the reports from other people doing Lejog end to end after their first week.
A quiet run with virtually no traffic is such a great way to start a Sunday morning! I am going to take a little short break now and see how that changes the next run. ๐โค๏ธ
Well done Fab! Youโve achieved your Quest and have begun your journey to John OโGroats. Thatโs amazing! ๐๐
Iโm en route too. Iโll do my first report when I receive my first postcode (50 or 100 miles, I forget!), but so far Iโve logged 3 runs and 3 walks for a total of 26.16 miles. Iโll walk some more today, then start the process again tomorrow! Have you seen the leader? Heโs up to 185 miles! Whaaat? ๐ฑ
Iโm loving this, and it looks like you are too! Have fun after your rest. ๐ฅฐ
Thatโs brilliant!! ๐คฉ Iโm not surprised either! 26.6 miles is so great!! ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐คฉ
Iโm really enjoying it too!! ๐ I donโt have a garmin or anything, so I am deliberate with the phone in tow ready to record my distances, but Iโm ok with that ๐. Iโm having fun!! I was at 13.9 miles yesterday.
The leader at 185 miles?๐ฒ....well....thatโs eye watering!! ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
Looks like the first postcard is 100 miles ๐คฉ. So, Iโve got some way to go ๐, but I will feel very pleased when I receive it, thatโs for sure.
๐ต ๐ถ โHi ho...hi ho....itโs off to John O Groats we goโ! ๐ต ๐ถ ๐คฃ
You get your first one at 50 miles, then 100, but then it goes to 100 mile intervals, although I believe you do get emails with facts about points of interest when you pass them sometimes. ๐ Good luck to you both, you're doing so well and only 1 week in, you've definitely got this ๐๐๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Well done on completing your first week of LeJog and achieving the 3 runs per week in your August quest! I think its a good idea to have a rest. You'll need to take care of yourself on this journey.
Looking forward to reading of next week's adventures!
Thanks so much Fionamags!! ๐ค I think a bit of complete rest and a lot of water might be the perfect concoction for a very nice week ahead ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ ๐โค๏ธ!!
Sounds like a very productive week Fab mine less so with 3 very long driving days in the last 8 but weโve got a year to do LeJOG so Iโll not panic yet. I still need to report any progress (Iโve done some honestly!) but changed my password and my phone promptly forgot it!! Iโll get on my way soon. Have a great week - last full one of your August quest so on to new challenges perhaps?
Ooh Sybilw! Well done! ๐ค Iโve no doubt youโve done some! ๐ And I totally agree, thereโs a whole year ahead! ๐๐ฝ
I will have to think about my September quest now...it be? I think Iโm going to choose something totally different (and perhaps a little crazy ๐, like how many of โsomethingโ can I find on tour this month?, that will be fun)! ๐ค๐ค๐คmmmm...what should it be though? ๐ It will come to me.
Hi Fab450, Iโve started my journey this week too๐โโ๏ธ I run most days, but some runs are shorter than others, depending on work commitments etc.
Iโm going to try to complete it all by running but Iโll see how it goes.๐
So far Iโve run 19.26 miles apparently๐ I still run in km but Iโve got a spreadsheet set up which converts figures to miles automatically so I can update the website properly. I also know exactly how many km/miles Iโve still got left and Iโm keeping a record of elapsed time too๐ Iโm hoping to be able to run some graphs from the data too as I get further into it. It might not be for everyone but Iโm a data analyst by trade so I quite enjoy putting these things together๐ Happy running everyone!๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Thatโs brilliant!! ๐คฉ๐คฉ! I know I wonโt be able to make it without the walks, but maybe....possibly....if Iโm due a little miracle ๐, I might do or be close with the walks included. But, honestly, Iโm very ok with not quite getting there ๐คญ๐คซ.
I run/walk in Kโs too and convert via google. Then upload my evidence. I can see this would be quite a nice experience for a data analyst. I do some for my work too, but just interpretation of the data that is gathered by those specialists like yourself. ๐คฉ
For running, itโs just punch in the numbers and it will hopefully tell me where I am at!! Thatโs just me all over when it comes to running though โบ๏ธ. No self control!! ๐๐๐!
Iโm enjoying it and it sounds like youโre doing that too. Bravo on having a great week!! ๐๐ฝ๐คฉโค๏ธ
Well done on the start, and keeping the runs going, Iโm afraid I gave up the runs in favour of trying to do the LEJOG within three months. I think your first postcard is at 50 miles so you should be getting one soon. Our leader was amazing too, he was walking about 30/32 miles a day, heโs finished already and has now signed up to do the wcp which he aims to finish before Christmas.
In 2019 I gave myself the target of doing 1000 km and allowed for possible injury by aiming for 100km per month. I was lucky with injury with just the first 2 weeks of February and got the distance in October ๐๐
It is worth doing a little bit extra that you can 'bank' and draw from.
So much to take, digest and be proud of here. The August quest was a real achievement for you and has set you up nicely for the year long challenge. Rest will do you well and you go again. Don't worry about how long or how far you are going, just that you're going because as the weeks turn into months you will become a different runner. A really solid start with a line drawn in the sand. It's go time ๐
Absolutely GTFC!! Thanks so much!!๐ค Iโm certainly enjoying every minute of it! So, a little pit stop and the tour will be back on the move!!๐ช๐ฝ๐โค๏ธ
Woooh hooo!! ๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ! No, I think Iโm still in Penzance too, so I canโt be that far ahead ๐.
Yesterday, I was by Ludgvan Academy Primary School. โThe best school in Cornwallโ so some of the reviews said ๐! I always take a closer look on google at somewhere I can see close by.
Fish & chips ๐ ๐ sounds fantastic!! We shall do that!! ๐คฉ๐ค
Well done on getting your three runs in and you are right, it does sound like a little rest might be just what is needed. Also I get toxic 5 where the first 5 minutes are horrible and I question myself. why am i doing this? I cant run etc. Just slow it right down, wait for it to pass and enjoy the rest x
Thanks so much CP2!! ๐ค You know, I donโt usually get that, so when it happens (and it does! ๐ฅด) it has become a little bit of a tell tale sign for me that I might not be quite as โfull of energyโ as I think ๐!! A little โooh, be carefulโ wink if you like! ๐!!
I donโt expect it to be easy mind. But that little heaviness makes it feel a bit more laborious!! Less spring in the step!! ๐คฃ๐คฃ!
I always have you all to keep me going though and make sure I know that Iโm not the only one ๐คช. Iโm very grateful for that too!! ๐ค๐ค So...run on we shall CP2!! ๐๐๐คฉโค๏ธ
