It was just a little gale!

The magic plan doesn’t wait and week 3 beckoned, so there I was trotting along in yer typical OGR wind, well I say wind - it was a blooming gale really! And with a little bit of wind assistance (credit where it’s due😬), I managed 2 records - fastest km and mile so happy days! And today’s 3.5k was 1.5 minutes quicker than when I first did the plan in March and the 7k was around 3 minutes quicker, so I’ll take that thank you! Happy running

folks!

A nice gentle breeze for you today OGR, congratulations on your 3.5K being 1.5 minutes quicker, despite the wind, onwards and upwards 🏃🏾 👍

Thank you Alan, Yes, a roughly 40mph gentle breeze!

Well I was when the wind was behind me hamit! Hope your recovery is continuing!

Wind, rain, uphill downhill it's what makes running interesting. Thankyou yes recovering well, hatching plans to do c25k again when I can. But getting some pressure from friends to get a Treadmill, boring!

I fell off a treadmill once 😂😂

Whoop whoop whoop OGR - you have found your wings. Wasn’t it fun though.?

I finally got out at 6.00 this evening and it was so exhilarating. I ran with the gale behind me and then turned around at 1.5k. Oh my goodness! Wasn’t that hard? 45-50 mph Pushing against us. My HR went up and my pace came down. 2.5k done on W1R2 of juju’s magic plan.

I hope you celebrated when you got home. See you at not parkrun on Thursday.

You’re so right - going east was brilliant but crikey, as soon as you turned round and headed west it was unbelievably hard!! But all good fun! Looking forward to breakfast, sorry (not)parkrun, on Thursday!

Sounds like tons of fun Dexy! Sometimes running in extreme elements is the way to go! Brilliant. 💨💨💨💨💨💨💨😀🏃‍♀️

Yes I was “shall I run?” All day, but was glad I got out in the end. Looks nice out there today .

Good for you, bet you’re happy you went! 🏃‍♀️

I ran this morning and it was still fairly breezy and surprisingly humid. I decided to make it a bimble round the trails on the common and it was lovely. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🐾🐾

Oh, must we?! My 3k was 27:14 (pretty good for me!) but hitting the wind tunnel for the end half km took it to 32:32. Which is pretty shabby for you speedy types but will do me for now! Best km was 8:52 - haven’t done that for a while!

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply toOldgirlruns

Well done - remember that feeling and try it without the wind. Yes my pace per km was 1 1/2 mins slower facing the wind.

Ahh, what’s a little gale to someone as stalwart as OGR! 💨 💨 💨

Brilliant run, and well done getting out in it. Sadly (who am I kidding?) it wasn’t a run day for me yesterday!

Well done you. 😀👏🏃‍♀️

Ha, that was some wind yesterday, glad you managed to get out, what great photos too

It was a good’un wasn’t it? The sunny pic was a few days ago when there were people out windsurfing - the other one was yesterday when the water was in an entirely different mood!

In my drunk on tiredness state i read “It was only a little gate” and thought oh no OGR has fallen over a gate I hope she’s ok, but after a couple hours sleep I even remember answering you before

Fabulous job, well done on your PB's...it's been great fun the crazy weather we've been having. It either helps you along or most of the time acts as resistance training but it's never dull 😆

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply toRun46

Thanks Run46 - yes, Dexy5 always tells me that running into the wind is great resistance training for running up hills!

Sybilw profile image

Wow fantastic stats there! I wouldn’t worry about the wind assistance as I’m sure not all of it was with the wind behind you!
