I'm somewhere around week 3 on Ju-Ju's fab plan but the runs can vary according what time I get back from work and the weather.
This morning we had sleet showers, bright sunshine and a fiercely cold wind. My head told me to stay in bed with lots of tea and Mythos (excellent Stephen Fry book about the Greek gods) but my heart told me I had to run. Besides, the current Mr Slinky had promised to run slowly with me (we're talking 4.5 min per km as his usual pace!)
Well, it was a treat to have a run together along the canal towards Stroud, but he is a bad influence on me. The halfway mark is by the old lock keeper's house, now a cute little café in true bohemian Stroud style. Knowing my weakness for caffeine and cake, I was lured into sharing a piece of polenta lemon cake and having a cappuccino. ☕🍰 😍 Looking at my timings on the way back, I can see the effect of the cake 🍰😞 . As it was a tail wind, I really should've been a bit quicker!
But I didn't mind about pace or times. It was a lovely dose of sunshine despite the wind and my ankles were well behaved too!

What a beautiful place to have on your run route! I think the cake and coffee stop was a great idea, but I guess it depends on why you run. If you run for fitness and enjoyment, and what better way to get both?!
Yes, at least I quickly burnt the calories! If we do a longer run together we tend to do it early & have a bacon bap at a café afterwards. The waiting reward keeps me going!
Running and cake. What's not to like? Although I don't think I would be able to run after cake. If it were me I think I'd have to save the cake and coffee for the end of the run.
Nice..yum...I am finding that running is giving me licence/ excuses to indulge in much crumpet and cakery which will need to change when Spring comes! Have a good week and see you 'somewhere around' week 4!
Same here! I've also been fasting once a week in solidarity with my husband who had high blood sugar levels and whilst I didn't really need to lose weight, the running & fasts mean I now weigh the same & am the same dress size as in my 20s (I'm nearly 48). Hooray for running!!🏃♀️❤️
