New route

Decided to trial a new route today, not knowing the distance, even though I've driven parts of it several times. It was a toughie!

The first 2.5k was mainly uphill, with a few fairly steep downhill sections to break it up. I plodded on past the local pubs and leisure centre, cursing cars for not letting me cross as they pulled out, obviously in a rush... but I noticed as I went, the entire place smelled like a brewery! All I could smell was beer, but I suppose it was better than car exhaust!

I ran on along a section by the side of a ring road, until walking for around 30 seconds as I turned up one of the steepest sections, before lurching into a run again. At 4.5k it was REALLY hurting, my breathing rasping in and out, as I turned into the final downhill towards home. It was a long downhill slope into a headwind, but it was actually really refreshing, as the sun had come out and the temperature was rising.

As I came back to where I had started I'd run 6.2k, longest run for a while. It's nice that the distance is increasing, with some pretty good split times in there. I'm gonna have a shortie on Wednesday, around 3.5k, then try this route again next weekend, probably stringing it out to around 7-7.5k.

Twas a good run. 😊💪🏃

Ah...the benefits of hills - what goes up, must come down (although, this doesn't always seem to be the case!)...and even better if the wind is not too strong! Well done on your run🙂

I learned a lot yesterday Fabby, mainly about not listening when something tells me I can't do it. It's just a case of head down, shoulders hunched, (metaphorically, good running form is important) and just keep going until I hit my targets. Gonna keep going next weekend when I run this route, as I can put at least an extra 1k on it.

Fantastic Jundal! You can do it! And you know what.....getting out and running, even not in the best form works too! Ask me how I know? ⁉️😂😂! Let’s keep hitting those gremlins where it hurts, 😉! With understanding that we’re always doing the best that we can! 💪🏽👍🏽❤️

Fantastic Jundal, that’s a great distance and I bet you’re happy you did it! 👊🏃‍♂️😀

Won’t it be a relief when the wind leaves us for good? It’s so sapping. 💨 👎 It doesn’t appear too bad this morning so maybe it’s gone? 🤞🤞 Extra kudos for you running in it, and with hills too. 👍 Sounds like you’re well and truly back Jundal! 👏👏👏

Truth be told, it actually feels better this time, as I'm being a lot more adventurous with routes and hills, not the same old route with bits bolted on the end.

Truth be told I'm aching in funny places today, (right side below my ribs?! Need to do some core strengthening exercises) and I'm a little fatigued, but that's no real Biggie. I'm just proud that the distance is increasing again.

That’s the way to do it! Mix it up and keep it interesting. Check off each goal and be proud of every one! 👊

Achey bits are good I always think. They mean you’ve been working hard. Good for you Jundal! Your mojo has returned and it sounds like you mean business! 👍🏃‍♂️👏👊
