Well...week 1 is now complete. I have run and walked every day this week, but no big distances π.
My August quest came first, which was to run 3 days per week. Then the LEJOG opportunity came up and I tried to resist, but eventually thought Iβd give it a go (with no unreasonable expectations π€π). So far, it has been so much fun, despite me being on the snail trail π... ππ½ββοΈπ!!
Today I went out and it was quite a tough start. Toxic 10 perhaps, but I managed to loosen up eventually. I was coaching myself a bit today and recognise that it sort of feels as though Iβm pushing too hard π³ (Or Iβm wimping out π€£π€£), but whatever it is, itβs important to meet myself where I am at.
So, having experienced a heavy start, Iβve decided to have a couple of days of complete rest (no deliberate LEJOG walkπ€«). I do think Iβll be able to have longer runs that way.
So, this week βon tourβ (as GTFC has named it..,and I like it π).....
β Iβm off the starting block with LEJOG
β and Iβve done my 3 run days in my August quest.
Not bad at all! π Most of all....Iβve enjoyed it, every little helps and thereβs more to come!! π
Happy running Runners! β€οΈ

Congratulations on completing your 3 days a week runs for your August Quest, you have done very well, now have a few days break before you continue with Lejog, it will be very interesting to see the reports from other people doing Lejog end to end after their first week.
A quiet run with virtually no traffic is such a great way to start a Sunday morning! I am going to take a little short break now and see how that changes the next run. πβ€οΈ
Well done Fab! Youβve achieved your Quest and have begun your journey to John OβGroats. Thatβs amazing! ππ
Iβm en route too. Iβll do my first report when I receive my first postcode (50 or 100 miles, I forget!), but so far Iβve logged 3 runs and 3 walks for a total of 26.16 miles. Iβll walk some more today, then start the process again tomorrow! Have you seen the leader? Heβs up to 185 miles! Whaaat? π±
Iβm loving this, and it looks like you are too! Have fun after your rest. π₯°
Iβm really enjoying it too!! π I donβt have a garmin or anything, so I am deliberate with the phone in tow ready to record my distances, but Iβm ok with that π. Iβm having fun!! I was at 13.9 miles yesterday.
The leader at 185 miles?π²....well....thatβs eye watering!! ππ½ππ½ππ½
You get your first one at 50 miles, then 100, but then it goes to 100 mile intervals, although I believe you do get emails with facts about points of interest when you pass them sometimes. π Good luck to you both, you're doing so well and only 1 week in, you've definitely got this ππππββοΈπββοΈ
Well done on completing your first week of LeJog and achieving the 3 runs per week in your August quest! I think its a good idea to have a rest. You'll need to take care of yourself on this journey.
Looking forward to reading of next week's adventures!
Thanks so much Fionamags!! π€ I think a bit of complete rest and a lot of water might be the perfect concoction for a very nice week ahead ππ½ββοΈ πβ€οΈ!!
Sounds like a very productive week Fab mine less so with 3 very long driving days in the last 8 but weβve got a year to do LeJOG so Iβll not panic yet. I still need to report any progress (Iβve done some honestly!) but changed my password and my phone promptly forgot it!! Iβll get on my way soon. Have a great week - last full one of your August quest so on to new challenges perhaps?
Ooh Sybilw! Well done! π€ Iβve no doubt youβve done some! π And I totally agree, thereβs a whole year ahead! ππ½
I will have to think about my September quest now...it be? I think Iβm going to choose something totally different (and perhaps a little crazy π, like how many of βsomethingβ can I find on tour this month?, that will be fun)! π€π€π€mmmm...what should it be though? π It will come to me.
Hi Fab450, Iβve started my journey this week tooπββοΈ I run most days, but some runs are shorter than others, depending on work commitments etc.
Iβm going to try to complete it all by running but Iβll see how it goes.π
So far Iβve run 19.26 miles apparentlyπ I still run in km but Iβve got a spreadsheet set up which converts figures to miles automatically so I can update the website properly. I also know exactly how many km/miles Iβve still got left and Iβm keeping a record of elapsed time tooπ Iβm hoping to be able to run some graphs from the data too as I get further into it. It might not be for everyone but Iβm a data analyst by trade so I quite enjoy putting these things togetherπ Happy running everyone!πββοΈπββοΈ
For running, itβs just punch in the numbers and it will hopefully tell me where I am at!! Thatβs just me all over when it comes to running though βΊοΈ. No self control!! πππ!
Well done on the start, and keeping the runs going, Iβm afraid I gave up the runs in favour of trying to do the LEJOG within three months. I think your first postcard is at 50 miles so you should be getting one soon. Our leader was amazing too, he was walking about 30/32 miles a day, heβs finished already and has now signed up to do the wcp which he aims to finish before Christmas.
In 2019 I gave myself the target of doing 1000 km and allowed for possible injury by aiming for 100km per month. I was lucky with injury with just the first 2 weeks of February and got the distance in October ππ
It is worth doing a little bit extra that you can 'bank' and draw from.
So much to take, digest and be proud of here. The August quest was a real achievement for you and has set you up nicely for the year long challenge. Rest will do you well and you go again. Don't worry about how long or how far you are going, just that you're going because as the weeks turn into months you will become a different runner. A really solid start with a line drawn in the sand. It's go time π
Absolutely GTFC!! Thanks so much!!π€ Iβm certainly enjoying every minute of it! So, a little pit stop and the tour will be back on the move!!πͺπ½πβ€οΈ
Woooh hooo!! ππ½ππ½! No, I think Iβm still in Penzance too, so I canβt be that far ahead π.
Yesterday, I was by Ludgvan Academy Primary School. βThe best school in Cornwallβ so some of the reviews said π! I always take a closer look on google at somewhere I can see close by.
Well done on getting your three runs in and you are right, it does sound like a little rest might be just what is needed. Also I get toxic 5 where the first 5 minutes are horrible and I question myself. why am i doing this? I cant run etc. Just slow it right down, wait for it to pass and enjoy the rest x
Thanks so much CP2!! π€ You know, I donβt usually get that, so when it happens (and it does! π₯΄) it has become a little bit of a tell tale sign for me that I might not be quite as βfull of energyβ as I think π!! A little βooh, be carefulβ wink if you like! π!!
I donβt expect it to be easy mind. But that little heaviness makes it feel a bit more laborious!! Less spring in the step!! π€£π€£!
