Today I start my virtual running/walking journey from Lands End to John O Groatâs, with quite a few VRBâs. Where Iâll end up in 12 months is a bit of a mystery, but if I get that t-shirt and bling, that would be AMAZING!! A miracle perhaps! ðððð! But....Iâm going to enjoy this adventure!
I donât have all of the tech down packed, but I hear I get postcards along the way and everything ...ð²ððð! (I know....grow up! ðð)! I canât wait for my first one!
Anyway, itâs not a run day for me today. Iâve been doing quite a bit of DIY (wonât be trying that again for a while ðð), but I went out for a run yesterday evening. So I think I need to walk for my first two days to give my body a bit of time to recover! Itâs been through a lot ð¥Ž!
Iâm so looking forward to this. I hope I get the buzz that others talk about and it keeps me going back out for more! ð ððœââïž
Letâs GO Fab! Iâm heading out shortly. Isnât it funny, it feels like being on an actual start line, whereas in reality itâll be just me and Flossie this morning. ðââïžðŸ Iâm looking forward to my postcards too! And the medal goes without saying! ð ð¥°
Oh, how did you get the font larger on your name? My numberâs ok but my name is teeny tiny! ð
Heyyyy. I'm here waving you and all my VRB's off!! I wish you many miles of happy and injury free running. Go out there with no pressure and enjoy. Over the year you'll grow in so many ways, especially with experience and mileage. During it and at the end you'll develop into a different runner. Best Wishes from The Humber ð
Woo hoo!!!! What a great motivator that will be for you??!! I saw this and was in 2 minds whether to join in but Iâm not sure Iâd manage...although I like the sound of a t-shirt and postcards?!! Iâm doing the GNR Solo at the moment & enjoying the challenge...I have no doubt in my mind that you will be right there in John O Groats with your VRBâs when the time comes...all high fiving and feeling on top of the world!!! I will be cheering for you...Iâll give you a virtual wave when you get to Yorkshire ðððð»ðð» xx
If it was for the thought Iâm going to make it there.....ð well.... I might not have bothered. When I saw it was over 800 miles, I just thought that was a no, no for me. But RunaroundSue came to the rescue and advised itâs for everyone and I just decided, wherever I get to, that will be just right for me. The run or walk bit made this extra motivating too. If the Gremlins come out to play, I have an all weathers weapon for them now!! Iâll say Iâm walking and Iâll probably run. ððŠŸ
Enjoy the GNR Solo!! Iâll be cheering you on too!! ðâ€ïž
I don't understand it either and I've been going for a month already I just log my mileage as and when I remember and add a screenshot for my evidence then check the record against my numbers. So far, it is all agreeing so it's working somehow
I wasn't checking at first so it was quite a nice surprise to get the email with the postcards, I should be getting my 150 mile one today, as long as I can get out for my walk after work.
This is so cool! ð Iâve done my first log today with evidence!! It was pretty easy...thankfully.
I donât understand the Interactive Map though. Is the goal where I am at right now? I seems to have gone quite far, so I figure that it canât be right, ðð or is that where I get my first postcard perhaps?
I looked for an explanation, but there wasnât one.
ð£ RunaroundSue...aka...âThe Font of Knowledgeâ, Can you help? I promise all info is understood to be to the best of your knowledge ð! Sorry to be a pain ð¥Žð€! â€ïž
I could be wrong but I believe the little goal is the first 'target' where you get your first postcard, so 50 miles. I can still see it on my map but have gone past it so assume it's just there all the time.
If you want to see where you are, there is a box below where you enter your mileage details that says 'Search for names'. If you type your name in here then it will bring up a second box below which will show your accumulated mileage, click on that and it will bring up your location on the map.
Oooh I see now. Very nice. Iâm on the A30, at Treave Pottery Shop ð! So I think Iâll pop in for a browse. Iâm not that far from the Lands End Cottages. Maybe Iâll have a look around there tomorrow. ðâ€ïž
It was good to see you on the start line this morning. Happy running and I'll see you at the other end. It will fly by.
I usually work in km but you can only submit mileage so I am keeping my own chart to log both mileage and km. I'm looking forward to getting the medal at the end.
Your off, good luck for your run/walk to John O' Groats, you will remember that number 8275 for a very long time after you complete your journey, the main thing is that you have a great time. ð ððŸ ð¶
I wonder how many here might join the LeJog end to end sometime if you or other runners/walkers are full of praise for it, I might do it, I do a lot of walking, especially when I am not cycling during the winter months, those walks added to the runs I do add up to about 20 miles a week, so who knows I might join the challenge at some time, not just yet.
Woo hoo!!! And we're off ð not a run day for me today but did a lovely 10k walk with both boys and hubby so I'm on my way. It's all very exciting ð
Thank you Granspeed!! ð€ððœððœððœ! Weâre off! Iâm currently at Treave Pottery shop in Lands End, so I googled it for a closer browse ð. Itâs a nice way to see places youâve never been before. â€ïž
Ooooo how exciting ... good luck on your virtual travels....who knows who you will be bumping into or running and walking with. Fabulous event and enjoy ð
