The wonderful Oldfloss and the rest of the admin team will also be here to support you on here through your journey.
If you are running regular 5k’s as part of your consolidation.
OR
For the time plan, you are running regularly for 30 minutes?
If you would like to increase your distance and time running, and this is your next goal?
THEN- this may be for you?
What is it?
The plan is 8 weeks long and each week includes a long run that gets progressively longer, a 5k or 30 minute run, and a shorter run that can be recovery or an interval session.
I will post the plan outline and some suggested strength routines at the outset, and then I will be posting every 2 weeks to see how you are getting on, give support and share one another’s progress.
Extras:
This plan will be including a couple of fun challenges along the way, and also the opportunity to join a zoom call to chat about your progress, ask questions, share tips etc…. more on that nearer the time.
Is this for me?
If you would like to join please post your name below and also feel free to ask any questions too…

Hi, I think I may be interested in this. I have just graduated though. Also, I’m not sure if I can run every other day as yet, due to circumstances. Would it still be worth me trying to do this? As I’d love to run a 10k next
Hello, there are 3 runs a week, the same as C25k... it is worth consolidating your runs first, and it depends how you feel as you do have a few weeks to do this. Its entirely up to you?
Thanks Ju-Ju! I’ve just done my 8th consolidation run and managed to hit 6K in 39 minutes 💪 (I wanted to test my ability ahead of starting your plan). Mande up!
As someone that has gone through this plan I can wholeheartedly recommend the programme. It is a safe, no pressure way of building towards running longer. You will find as you increase your distance, your confidence and experience grow making your running feel a little more comfortable. The forum is also a wonderfully reassuring and positive place with so much advice. The 10k or 60 minute goal may seem a long way off but week by week you'll start to realise you will do it and the step by step approach really inspires you and builds your confidence. Go for it and as long as you stay consistent you will get there 🎽
Oooo, maybe this is my next challenge🤷🏻♀️ I graduated 2 weeks ago & continuing to run every other day atm 5k each time! My pace is slightly better but the fact I’m doing 5k I’m proud & happy 😃
I’m due to go back to work in a couple of weeks & I’m working on a plan to continue my runs 🏃🏽♀️ #clearsmymind #feelsgood
I'll be joining you. I did it last year and it was great. I broke my elbow in May and go my distance back up to 5km but want to build back to longer distances again.
Hi Ju-ju yes I am in. Currently following the Garmin training plan to 10k in conjunction with Jeff Galloway. About 1/2 way through the 14wk programme. Tackling 9km on Sunday using his run/walk method. On my previous long run i walked 100m per 1k. Overall I did 10k including warm up and cool down. Looking to extend my running to 1.5km this Sunday.
Looking forward to doing the plan in order to get me over the 10k line 😀
I think you’ll find Ju-Ju posted this on c25k and the bridge to 10k forums to capture anyone who can take part. The plan will be managed on this forum though.
Thought I had already commented but if there was a duplicate post it might have gone astray. Anyway, this sounds like about perfect timing for me, I've just graduated C25K with my second 5k run and was planning to spend a few weeks consolidating at 5k before having a go at this plan in September. It would be great to have company on the journey!
Yes please! I will have to be in the time class rather than the distance one though. I am only doing 3.5k in my 30 minutes at the moment.
I graduated on Wednesday, and will be doing my first consolidation run tomorrow morning (it should have been today, but my hectic social life got in the way (a friend wanted to walk with me!)
I suspect I will make more progress as part of a group than I would doing my own thing!
Yes please. I've been consolidating for 9 weeks now and feel I need to push myself out of my comfort zone. I'd be doing the time version. Not made it to 5k yet! One day 🤞🌞
Perfect, and re your other comment, I am afraid it’s not a podcast. I give you the structure and then you run to fit in with your life. You may like to use the C25k plus podcasts to keep you motivated during the runs?
Oh good timing for me ju-ju. Managed the 60 minutes a couple of weeks ago, now having a bit of freedom running for a few weeks which is enjoyable but will be great to go for the 10k distance plan with a group - I'm in please!
I would sooooo like to do this. I completed the c25k and started the 10K plan but it’s slow. If I had a program to follow and a group/community I would be more motivated. Have lost my way a little and not pushing myself much. Would you count me in please.
Great, and it really doesn’t matter how gently you run, it’s about getting the distance up. You will be fine, we are all here to support you 😎
Yes please. I have tried to increase my runs. Currently at 6 k or 60 mins which I have managed two times. Loosely following the plan but keep stopping and starting it and 10 k feels impossible ATM.
Yes please. Graduated C25k 3wks ago and need help to keep going. Getting to 5k in about 36-37 minutes this week so hopefully ready to start by beginning of September. Probably time not distance .
Yes I think I'm in. I finished my c25k a week ago and currently in consolidation phase. It will be around a month by 4 September. Does this seem long enough or would youbrecommend waiting until I move to this programme? I will definitely be looking at 60mins rather than the 10k at the moment.
Hi, me too please! I get out of quarantine in China on 2nd September so this will be something to look forward to. Not sure how I will keep fit for the two weeks locked in quarantine, any tips would be most welcome!
Great, and I’m so sorry you have been stuck inside. I know other runners in quarantine over the world and they have done things like jogging on the spot. I recommend some HIIT sessions on YouTube, that is easily done indoors.... there’s a lot on YouTube that you could try.... hang in there, I know it’s tough.
Hi! Just a little update. Am in the quarantine hotel and running up and down the room which has a 9.6m stretch from door to window. It can be quite boring so I put the coffee table and office chair in the middle as obstacles, to give it more of a trail vibe. As I run I am listening to the stamina podcast and kind of smile as the song about wanting to be free comes on. So feeling that. 5 days to go.
I’m interested in this please. 56yo fella. Overweight C25K graduate, regularly running 5k but never under 30mins and not sure I will!!
Hi ju - ju -, I started your plan over 2 months ago but unfortunately I have had to spend the last three weeks on the injury bench with an ankle problem. I had managed to build up to a 55 minute run. My ankle is starting to feel better after some physio and strength and stretching exercises. Hopefully 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 I will be fit enough to start the program again in September. Please count me in.
I’d like to start the 60 minute plan with you please. I completed C25K (for the 2nd time) at the beginning of July and have been doing regular 30 minute runs. I’ve been thinking of starting this plan for a couple of weeks. Would love to do it with group support!
I would like to join too. I have been doing consolidation runs since March. I have managed some 6K or 7K runs but not consistently. I need some motivation and a plan to follow. Great timing for me to join. Looking forward to it already.
I would love to join if possible...I finished C25k 4 weeks ago and am running every other day...5k ish around 35-40mins. I am entered for a charity 10k at beginning of November and it would be amazing to be in a group to support.
Hi ju ju, I graduated c25k in June and have been running two to three times a week since and am now at 5k in about 43 mins slowly improving, I have just started a weekly 30 30 interval run of about 3k so may be interested in joining up
Hi. I really want to do this as I’m loving my 5k’s having graduated (again) around a month ago. I’m on holiday though from 11 Sep for a week and not sure I’ll be able to run then. What to do 🤔
Sorry ju-ju I decided not to join the plan , im not sure of the time I will have available now so will continue on my own for now , already had a 1 hour run and up to 7:25 k so a couple more weeks should see me there .
Hi there. I would like to join too. I graduated a month ago and have kept up with 3 runs a week. Last week I managed my first 5k. Yeah!! I really would like the structure to run the distance.
Please count me in. I’ve been doing the plan, got up to final week but went on holiday and as I’ve been doing the time challenge would like to do again for distance now to reach 10k 😁
I've changed my mind and will leave you lovely lot to it this time. I'm having a lovely time recently, just jeffing around town for varying times & distances, & the fun of just seeing what happens each time is working well for me at the moment. Good luck everyone!
Can I join please? I've now done 3 wks consolidation, and 2 wks 5K+ and was contemplating on 1 or 2 wks more of that before starting the timed version when this was suggested to me, so perfect timing.
Hi Ju Ju, I would like to be part of this. I love a bit of structure and have been consolidating c25k since June. Of those runs, half have been over 5km but I think a group will help me keep up the work and not surrender to the couch!
Yes please!.I started the 60min plan in July but had to stop due to injury. Am just aiming to get back to 30mins x3 times a week throught August - so perfect timing
I'd love to give a go.Graduated about a month ago. I'm running every other day for approx 35 mins and doing just over 5k so hopefully I am fit enough to try! I'm doing the consolidation podcasts with Laura one day and then just with music the next run to keep my motivation up.
Room for a little one? Yes please, think I need the structure of a plan with others now - there's more accountability!! I'll be doing distance I think, but may use the time between now and 4th Sept to decide what would be best. Thanks ju-ju-
Yes please! Since moving abroad I’ve got much slower due to the heat so I’ll be doing the timed programme. It’ll be the encouragement I need when I’m back at work, so count me in! 🏃♀️
Yes please, think this is the motivation I need. Finished the C25K back in May. Have been running 5k’s with one 8k run so would love to push for the 10k.....
I would be interested in the September Magic Plan. Having been left to my own devices since graduating it has been difficult to get motivated to go beyond 5k or 40 minutes.
Hi...I'm interested in joining this group. I graduated C25K in May never having run before, then overdid it a bit on my consolidation runs, and had to wait a month for my knee to get back to normal size 😬. I've crept back up to running 5k (or 6k or 4k, depending on the day) 3-4 times a week. The plan sounds great, looking forward to it.
This isnt about speed, it is focusing on increasing time or distance. And very few people can do a 5k in 30 minutes when they graduate. So please dont worry.
Hello! I joined last year but then life just tumbled into chaos right after I did so. Sigh. But now I'm back with extra fire.
I started c25k again in May and have been running consolidation runs for about a month. Some working on pace, some on distance but I slowly nudged my distance up to 5k. I can't do a 5k in 30 minutes but I certainly can run three 5ks a week if given enough time. I am so excited about switching from running for certain amounts of time and starting to train for distance. I live just off a beautiful trail that is an 8k loop from bridge to bridge along both sides of the river in town. Running 8k has long been a goal. I dream about running the loop all the way around <3
I was just going to use the charts and files but if you are going to start up September 4 as a group I'd love to join in!
I’m interested please. Managing around 3.5k just over 30 mins, when I can kick the 20 min gremlin out the way. This sounds like the structure I need. Might struggle as work increases but will give it a try. Ta
I would like to join please. I finished c25k a few weeks ago. I can do 30 mins and I can do 5k ( but not on the same occasion!), but I am not making any progress at the moment. Thanks
Well, I am not getting any quicker or running any further... I am still happy doing 30 mins twice a week and 5k once but I would like to improve speed or distance or even both! I am currently doing 5k in about 40 mins.
That sounds to me like you are doing really well. The plan will help you improve your distance, and there is an interval workout in it that will help with speed, however just to note that this plan isn't about speed.
Hi, I am on my 5th consolidation run, I am running for 30 mins but just missing the 5k, My last run was 2.93 miles in 30 mins. Do you think I can do this? Or should I wait, I feel a bit nervous, three months ago I struggled to run for 1 min.
I did try this earlier in the summer, but got a foot injury which held me back. So - I can usually manage 5K (64-year old asthmatic, never ran until 2 years ago). Slow and still not sure I'm up to anything further, but I'll give it another try.
That was my original intention. But somehow, the time (duration) doesn't feel like such a concrete target, once you've been doing Parkruns regularly and looking at time as speed for the fixed distance. So I thought I'd aim for distance. Not managed more than 7K yet, but that took 53minutes, IIRC.
Hi, I'd like to join this group please. I graduated in July. Struggled with the first consolidation runs but have now settled down and just done two 5k runs in around 34/35 minutes. Signed up for Race for Live 5K in September and would love to work towards 10k. Looking forward to the next challenge! Thanks!
I’d like to join too please. I graduated in May and did quite a few consolidation runs. Now just sort of mixing things up with some shorter runs and also trying to do a longer run each week too. This would be great motivation. Thanks
Hi I completed C25K in May and have been running regularly since. I have lost my mojo of late though and but still running between 20-25mins 3x a week - I think I need a clear structure again. Is this for me?
Hi ju-ju- , I just finished the Magic Plan and hit my 10k! Are there any posts or tips about consolidating my progress. I note that roseabi has a half marathon training plan on here but I'm sure if it's wise to jump straight into that without doing some consolidation of where i am now first. I have had a search for posts on what to do after the 10k but couldn't find any. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks
Hello and congratulations. You have made a really good point. Yes, Roseabi has a great HM plan. However that is quite a big leap. It depends what your goals are? You could aim for 10 miles ones consolidated on the 10k? In terms of consolidation, you could continue with 2 X 5k's, one being an interval session ( so maybe shorter) then a longer weekend run of between 5 and 10k depending how you feel. You could make one of the weekday runs a 6k and that way starting to up your overall mileage? If you wanted to go for the 10 miles, I would continue upping the run each week, and making one of the 5k's longer ensuring you meet the 10% rule. Also make sure you are doing some strength work etc?
Hi there, thanks for the reply. I think long term I'd quite like to try move up to the half marathon. Just to clarify if I'm understanding your approach above:
R1 intervals 5k or shorter (i was using couch to 5k+ Speed throughout the magic plan for r1)
R2 a 5k but increasing this slightly each week/every few weeks under the ten percent rule
R3 10k but also increasingly this slightly each week/couple of weeks under the 10% rule.
I do! Graduated in June, been doing 3 × 4-5k runs a week since (even did a 6k once!) and need a new challenge so that I don't break the routine when the autumn comes. Average pace is around 1km in 8mins, so not the fastest!
Yes please. Never having been a runner, I didn’t think I could run 5k but did C25k with my daughter as her PE lesson during lockdown. I’ve carried on and she stopped! So would love to challenge myself to see if I can manage 10k/60 mins as I approach my 50th year.
Please count me in !! I graduated C25k on 26th July and have done 11 consolidation runs - even ran for 50 mins today but it was a bit much (and only 6.6k) so I could do with some structure and group motivation !!
I would like to join this plan please. I graduate tomorrow and can run 30 minutes comfortably. I will also have time to do 3 consolidation runs next week before I start this plan.
Not sure how much distance I cover in 30 minutes , going to track it for the first time tomorrow. I have just focused on the time so far. Would love to run the 60 minutes.
OH is conscientiously doing C25k, so to make myself accountable for something as well I would like to join. Having done the timed version last year I will try for the full 10k this time.
However, my current work schedule makes it really hard to squeeze in three runs per week so I'll probably lag behind 🐌
Had a bit of a false start and had to rest for a week- dodgy ankle😒now done week 1 again. I usually run every other day. Is this too much on the plan - feel quite bereft if I don’t run...
Count me in please. Just back off injury couch after flying down a hill - I got my stitches badge for that 🤕😆 and would love a 10k one to make up for it!
I finished C25K back in April and have been running ( like a tortoise) 5k since. I’ve just completed 50 miles in August for a charity, running 5k every other day.
My pace has got a little better now my PB has gone from about 8,4m/km to 7.4m/km . Will I be ok for this? X
I'm joining in. Not been on the forums for 2 years since graduating and have recently managed 7k on my own 3 weeks running. Need advice and a push to get to 10k.
Can you add me to the list, I have consolidated my 5k runs and have steadily increased to 7k but need some structure and motivation- I’m not the fastest but determined to progress😊
Hi ju-ju I'm wondering about this. I graduated 3 weeks ago and have run for 30 mins - or a bit over 3 times a week since. However, I only managed my first 5k this morning - in 39 mins. So, I'm a bit slow. I had been wondering about Stepping Stones before I read about your plan. I'd really like to consolidate running the 5k distance, try and get my time down a bit, improve my running technique and breathing.
If that is your goal- to get faster, then that sounds perfect. The Magic 10k or 60 minutes plan is not about speed, its purely about time on the legs, or distance.
Excellent. I will add you to the list. Please look out for my post tomorrow ( which I will pin) and you will find the plan and other bits of information on there
September 4th is my 39th birthday - I'm in 🥳 I've graduated c25k in July and have been running 5 1-3 times a week until an injury took me out 2,5 weeks ago. Really want to start running again 😊
I would like to sign up for this please, I’ve been consolidating over 8 runs, comfortable running 5k/half hour and have reached 6+7 km a couple of times but would live to have structure. I’m also planning on doing a virtual 10k in nov So this will be great to get there.
I am so excited for tomorrow! I am going to do the timed challenge first and then maybe do it again "down the road" but working on distance. I am already on the list - I am just so dang pumped!
Can I still join the September magic plan? I completed it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I am running most of the time 3x / week between 3 and 7 k.
Yikes I’m so sorry, I have neglected you. I haven’t logged in for quite a while as I started a new job and had my 50th. Huge apologies and I really hope that you are finding it OK?
Hope your new job is going well? And a very happy Special Birthday 🎉🎈
The first week’s runs went well and since then I have been feeling a bit under the weather - thinking of going for a run today and hopefully back to normal next week
Hello all 👋 Looking forward to getting started with this challenge! A few questions (and apologies in advance if these have been asked and answered):
- Where can I find the plan for September? I’ve found the August one and I have been using this for reference. I’m thinking of running today and I want to check the distance needed - 2.5K?
- Where is best to post run updates? Bridge to 10K forum?
- Is there specific abbreviations for each week/run? B210K W1R1? Or?
Hello, it’s on the pinned posts, and ideally if you post on Bridge that’s the best place. There are no abbreviations, just week 1, 2 etc, but feel free to make your own ones up!!
I’m up to week 4 at the mo as I started a bit earlier on my own. Did my 4k today and got the 8k on Tuesday , all being well. I’d intended to do the 8 today but A got up late, B dodgy tummy, C spent yesterday clearing the garage and putting stuff in loft and I’m knackered today. So taking it easy for rest of the day then going to hydrate well Monday ready for Tuesday run. 😁
I thought I'd signed up for the magic plan but I'm not on the list 🤣- probably put my message in the wrong place knowing me 😬 I've just finished week 2 yesterday with a 50 minute 6k and I'm pretty pleased with myself. It's been a very grim year for me but C25K and starting the magic plan has kept me afloat and given me some time to concentrate on my own needs amongst the craziness. I'm focused on running 😁🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️😁🏃♀️
Can I be added to the list please so that I can feel like part of the team 😘
