Me and the IC 🐒

I'm still here! The hot weather hasn't helped because my foot puffed up, and for a few days I couldn't get any shoes on to support it, but!!! I'm now able to WALK up and down stairs, instead of on my bum, I can walk a few steps without crutches, and I can balance on my injured foot for a whole 20 seconds.

My local NHS Physio department has reopened, and I've had two video consults with a fantastic lady who has given me exercises to do and they are really helping. She is determined to have me running again!

Mr grumpy is delighted that I can now do some of the cooking 😁

This is going to take a while, there is still a lot of ligament damage, swelling and bruising, but I'll get there eventually. Meanwhile I'm enjoying reading everyone else's posts 😊

Hey GOG, great to hear from you with some positive news! You’ve not missed a great deal by not running in this heat and humidity. Hopefully when you’re back it’ll be much cooler!

Stay well! 😘

Thanks cheeky. Mr grumpy has been coming back from his cycle rides and standing under the garden hose! πŸ˜‚ It's raining now, and I've got to say, it's a relief.

Haha, I don’t blame him! πŸ˜…

I was gazing out the window at the pouring rain just now, wondering whether to don my kit and go for a run! But I’m banking on it being a tad cooler and wet tomorrow morning. πŸ’¦πŸ’¦ 🀞

Lovely to hear from you Grumps; IC is the pits! I am now off IC at last but running with a physio imposed speed limit! I have reached 8k and even managed a run without KT tape yesterday.

Having a physio and a recovery plan in place is the key isn't it? It feels like the start of getting better. Great that you have reached that point and that the risk of you developing runners' bum has receded. You have amazing determination; two major problems in one year is just plain unfair. πŸ™‚

Thanks BC, great to hear you've reached 8k, and that you're doing as you're told by the physio! You're right, and just knowing someone is watching out for you makes a huge difference.

Gosh GOG - you've really been through it haven't you? It sounds as though you have a great physio though and I love that she has vowed to get you back running! πŸ’ͺπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ All these little steps are steps back towards where you want to be ...you sound positive and determined. Stay strong and all the best for your continued recovery. πŸ™‚

Hi Gog, great news that you have a physio keen to get you back to running, mine was too, and its taken a while but those regular exercises will do the trick.

Be patient, the lovely linda9389 advised me that recovery is not linear and some days it may feel like you are going nowhere or even backwards...but in time you will get there.

I know how you feel, you can't move around and do things and it does get you down. Having the exercises at least makes you feel like you are helping your recovery.

Healing vibes , a hug from me πŸ€—and some cheery flowers πŸŒ»πŸŒΉπŸŒΊπŸ’πŸŒΈβ˜˜

πŸ˜™x

Having all the encouragement and support of our forum family helped me a lot, so do keep reading and posting. Take care. xxx

Oooh, I think it's Sadie-runs that should be credited with that one! But I totally agree and may well have said it too 😍

Oh poor you! It's exhausting isn't it - and in this heat it must be terrible. Good that you can appreciate some progress though. and fabulous that your physio is already talking of getting you running again. You'll get there - hang tight.

Thank you Linda, yes I've never appreciated just how tiring it all is! It's so nice not to have take all my weight on the crutches now, and I'm definitely learning the art of patience!

linda9389 profile image

That unbalanced lolloping takes so much effort !!! No one has any idea! Its why I loved riding my bike so much at that time - I could do that normally, with no additional effort

Unbalanced lolloping, yes! 🀣🀣🀣

Good luck grumpyoldgirl, I know how difficult life is on the IC , and you’ve been incredibly patient. It’s great to hear that you are now getting physio advice to help you along your way.

Hope it won’t be long until you can get your walking shoes on again and then your running shoes.......

😘

Thanks my lovely, I've started going out on my crutches for (very!) little walks along my street, I'm sitting with my feet up after one such totter now. Wish I had a cafe at the end of the street that served French toast and nectarines πŸ˜‰

Really pleased to hear that you're making some progress. Small steps but they're all steps in the right direction. See, now it's proven Mr grumpy can do the cooking... he might as well just keep at it πŸ˜‰

grumpyoldgirl in reply to Mum22boys

He isn't completely off the hook, however much he wriggles - but then, I am a much, much better cook, so taking over again is in my own interest 😁
