I am on holiday with my family this week and as it has been incredibly hot I have decided to take extra rest days, so this week on The Magic Plan has taken me a little longer to complete. Having switched the second and third runs around my final run this week was for 30 minutes.
The beautiful countryside around the village where I am staying provides the perfect opportunity for me to deviate from the norm and instead be completely spontaneous with the direction of my runs - if you read my previous post about me suddenly realising that I always run anti-clockwise and always turn left, this post will make sense....
Setting off yesterday morning just before 7am, with my husband and our dog for company - they were going to walk whilst I ran - we left our two sleepy teenagers in bed and headed into the village and up the track to the earthwork remains of the old castle and out into the fields beyond.
I started my run in the middle of a fieId beyond the earthwork and I made my route up as I went. Contrary to my usual preference for turning left, I rebelled and managed to fit in plenty alternative directions of travel; I turned right, I turned left, I ran on the spot, I ran straight on, and I double-backed a few times too to return my off-lead running buddy to my husband before I headed off on my own for the other side of the village to run a loop around the village church.
It was lovely to have my dog run with me for part of the way. She has been reluctant to do it before but yesterday morning she changed her mind, and that was a lovely treat for me.
Not surprisingly this run didn't feature any PBs, it was about much more than that and I loved it 😃🐾🏃♀️.
Can’t beat running with a dog D-d. Your run sounds wonderful. I think lots of us our veering off our respective running plans this week - for good reason. 🥵
Yes, it’s been so hot. We had a terrific thunderstorm last night and it’s cleared the air and made it a little cooler today, thank goodness. Tomorrow’s run should feel cooler 🤞🏼 😊.
This sounds like you had a wonderful joyful run made complete by your dog finally joining in 😊 I really loved my holiday run it's so nice to explore a new area isn't it? Enjoy the rest of your stay x
You are amazing! Absolutely cannot run in this heat and so am taking some serious rest days. Juju’s plan will have to wait. Pilates and yoga still in play though and horrid wearing a mask. Will this ever be over I wonder?
No thunderstorms or even a breeze here in Hampshire. Relentless heat.
We had a spectacular thunderstorm here last night, but there doesn’t seem to be any rain for West Sussex so my garden is going to be very dry when I get back ☀️. Well done on the Yoga & Pilates. I’ve brought my mat but it’s still in the car!! 😬
What a lovely run you've had! The scenery, the company and the spontaneity 😄. Kudos for running on.holiday it's not the easiest thing to do (holiday mindset etc) Hope you're brain coped with the change of direction 🥴. Enjoy the rest of your break🌞🌞
My brain was okay but my dog was very confused and couldn’t understand why I was running away from her and my husband, so she followed! My husband laughed and said our dog made it very clear where her loyalties lie! 🐶 💕 😊
😂😂 I've run before while my husband has dog walked and it left my pooch completely torn and confused. Best time is when I meet them at the end of a run and he hurtles across the park excited to see me🤣🤣. The dog that is...not my husband ☺️
What a great run you had Delly-dot! It’s sounds as though you really had fun going very which way for a change - and your dog seemed to enjoy it too! And presumably Mr D-d as well!
Going loopy are we DellyD? 😂😂😂 Sounds lovely though meandering about and breaking with routine. I think you'll need to get your hair spiked up and dyed a wild colour!!! Great stuff - keep it up. X
This run sounds like just the ticket Hidden ...no need for PB’s...enjoyment needed here, you’re on holiday and so should have exactly this type of run...good for you...lovely photos and lovely, lovely running buddy xx
Just the ticket indeed. Lovely running through the fields roundabout. Going to be a lot cooler tomorrow morning which is good. Maybe my run buddy will join me again? I’m just going to go with the flow 😊
