Magic Plan (and Repeat!)

Goodness that was hot! Only 3k, in accordance with the magic plan, which I’m doing again. But even at 7.30 it was sooo hot! I wasn’t sure how I would get on as I put my back out a couple of days ago but walking eases it so I figured my slow trot would be OK and it was. Think if I’m going to do 7k next week I’ll have to be up and out before 6 to stay in the cool! Happy running folks!

Great effort in the heat, so glad your back eased off to allow you to enjoy it. Happy running 🤗

Thanks Grannyhugs - it’s still a bit grumbly but I’ve just been for a swim in the sea with Dexy5 and UpTheStanley which has helped a bit I think. Well a swim in the sea cures all ills doesn’t it!

Great run and glad your back didn't cause you any problems and you're right its so hot . Even up in Scotland today its 20 degrees with not a breath of air .

Probably best to get out very early 🌞🏃‍♀️

20degrees in Scotland? Crikey!

Impressed, it was just too hit for me. Good luck with the plan. Do love a plan :-)

Gotta have a plan Sparkey! Probably should have gone out later - it’s hazing over now and definitely cooler!!

Another one down though and the next to look forward to. Well done and I hope the back holds up too.

Thanks GTFC- ‘having a back’ can be a pain at times (literally!) but this time I don’t actually recall doing anything to set it off - usually it’s something like putting a sock on!

Well done Oldgirlruns. You were Running while I was still Sleeping. We certainly got the hottest part of the day for our swimming. If it stays this cool I think I’ll have a joffle later.

Wrap up warm, it’s getting cool out there!!

A cold front passing through and now it’s hot again. We e just listened to the parkrun podcast about the new framework so running delayed till tomorrow- early

Don’t wake me when you go out!!

Well done on your 3k OGR - that's a great effort with a sore back and in the heat too. It was hot this morning so I shall be joining you around 6am for my next run 😊!

Another one in the legs - andchow lucky are you to be able to swim in the sea? There's a loch near where I'm staying at the moment but I wouldn't go near it without a wet suit - its Baltic!

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply toFionamags

I probably wouldn’t go into a loch without my diving drysuit Fionamags! I’m a bit wimpish in the sea as well but it’s a lovely temperature at the moment!

A run and a swim in the sea, all sounds good to me 😊 look after your back and yes, earlier runs might be in order if the heat stays around

I trotted our early too and by 6. 15 it was hot!!! 🥵. Good to hear your back is ok.

Oldgirlruns profile image

Thank you Wimborne; yes it’s pretty warm isn’t it. We’ll all be running at midnight at this rate!

Wimborne profile image

It did cross my mind... Tracking temperatures to gage a good time for a run wasn’t part of the C25K plan... maybe we should tell them to add a week 10 with all the new skills, gear, and habits you develop as side effects 😂

Oh yes, OGR back on the Plan! You’ll get there, you know you will! 🥰

Sorry about your back though. Pesky things aren’t they? Mr Cheeky is suffering with his too, and he can’t partake in his beloved rowing. He has an MRI booked for Tuesday - suspected herniated disc. 😩

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply tocheekychipmunks

Good luck Mr Cheeky. 🤞

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply toDexy5

Thanks Dexy5 . 😀

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply tocheekychipmunks

Ooh that sounds painful Mr Cheeky - I hope the MRI provides an answer to what’s hurting!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply toOldgirlruns

He’s had a video consultation Oldgirlruns and the consultant is also an oarsman like Mr Cheeky. He’s seen many back injuries just like his and he’s pretty sure that’s what it is. He was “giving it some wellie” on the rowing machine back in the winter when he felt it go. It “got better” and it went again showing someone how to properly lift a boat out of the water .... 🙄

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply tocheekychipmunks

Oh dear! Trouble is once you have a back it’s always there to remind you! Think mine probably stems from heaving buckets when ‘volunteering’ at the local stables a gazillion years ago!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply toOldgirlruns

Don’t talk to me about horse-related injuries! I used to haul hay bales, water, sacks of feed .... not to mention being stomped on by heavy hooves and being dragged bodily out of my impatient horse’s stable! My shoulder still isn’t 100%! 😩

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply tocheekychipmunks

Oh yes, been there, done that and, like you, loved every minute of it!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply toOldgirlruns

Loved it! But I wouldn’t fancy it now - it might interrupt my running! 🤣
