Back out today on my August quest. The plan only shows .5k for todayβs run. But, I knew that in advance (apart from thinking it was 50 mtrs for a time! π³π€ͺ, probably due to the shock of the low expectations! π)
Anyway, 500 mtrs it is! Or at least I thought I would contain myself and just stick to the plan π€. Iβve got a long way to go until the end of August. And to be honest I had a pretty physically strenuous day yesterday doing some DIY. Iβm doing strengthening exercises in between run days too, so Iβm feeling a touch achey today anyway.
I was a bit wary of my last experience with the Appβs odd display and lack of announcements when your following a specific plan, so it was not the most relaxing start. I did try to keep my eye on the phone while I ran so I would know when to stop. But....No display of the distance, just time and pace! ππ€ͺ. Really they do need to do something about this.
But on the plus side, a halfway announcement did occur while on the run!! ππ½! Still, I found that not knowing how far youβve run when you have a specific distance to go, affected how I tried to pace myself. Did I want to go harder or keep it slow? It certainly wasnβt the 10. something pace that was recommended. It was around 7. something. Did I need to slow down? π€― I had to give up on that thought process. It just wasnβt worth my time. Too much drama! π

Hi! Love the similarities with this and Roxdog's post. I like your creative spark in running and this is a great characteristic of yours. You are keeping going though and that is most definitely the main thing! I've found that during and after B210k that doing my own thing was best. I set a minimum distance (5m) that I wanted as my short run and then when I ran it I could carry on or stop depending how I feel. Now every week I do that at least twice with one run further and I can go nice and steady or if I feel like it I can open the box. It's no pressure and enjoyable π
A good start for you though, these are important moments because they will keep you going.
Exactly, I love a free run and dislike plans, so am developing a loose framework to work with, despite having a bit of a competitive streak! Glad I'm not the only one!
You can make it work and you will because you are the heartbeat and all the other things are peripheral. Mix and match and pick n mix and you'll get the best recipe for you!
I know that saying!! Youβre so right!! π€£π€£β€οΈ
Hi Fabulous π. I love your free and easy approach π. I'm going to get my 60 minutes and 10k under my belt and then I shall take a leaf out of your's and Roxdog's book and give it a go ππββοΈπ·.
Thanks so much!! π€π€ Honestly, I know this approach is not for everyone. Itβs just the way that I have kept running two years on. As soon as it becomes disciplined, I donβt enjoy it quite so much. That said....I probably donβt run quite so far either. But I like surprises!! πβ€οΈ
