I have just come back from the next run in my 10k plan with Sgt Major Garmin ππΌand the wonderful Jeff Galloway π€. Iβm in Wk 7 now π€ͺ....and itβs going wellπ!
On Tuesday I had a bit of a bitty run in a little park very nearby. The flooding meant that only a short distance was passable. So, my mission for the winter is to find a couple of off road locations where, I might get a little muddy, but I wonβt need a swimming costume! πββοΈ...π!
Today, I am happy to say, I think Iβve found a winter spot. I have been here before, but testing it out after the heaps of rain was the mission. Itβs perfect! π I will no doubt need to avoid any running on the grass during the wettest days of winter, but the path looks like it will be just fine. The sun even made an appearance near the end! β οΈ I wouldnβt go there in the dark though. There are limits! ππ! I had a wonderful time! That little baby sock, reminded me of taking baby steps. Every little counts! π₯° What will my legacy be? Hopefully.... I never gave up trying!!
Happy running Runners! β€οΈ

Looks like my kind of a run! If thereβs no puddles now after all this rain then it bodes well for the winter months! Happy running Fabulous! πβοΈπ
βIf you go down to the woods today, youβre in for a big surpriseβ. What a lovely running venue. And the big surprise? Enjoying running in the rain! (Iβm surprised, even if youβre notπ).
That looks a lovely place to run. It will be great for your winter runs. Enjoy your running there.
It looks similar to the paths I use around the country park. Like you I wouldn't go up there in the dark. I draw the line at that. I'm happy to go out at 5am in summer but definitely not in the dark. The paths in the country park are so uneven I'm liable to break my ankle.
π Iβm with you on the darkness! The density of the woods to each side, lovely in the light, but I reckon, perhaps a little eery if no one is around. I want to see whatβs around to a reasonable distance...!! π π..π€£π€£...! Safety first and all! β€οΈ
Thinking of winter Fab.......no!!!! The only thing which gets in the way of my running is frozen trail season. They take ages to thaw out; they drain well, so rain is ok.....but ice?βΉοΈ
Love that you went when you did! This is what makes you able to tackle anything on the day. Love it. Love the rain and love your 'go to' attitude ! You are in the zone π
Thanks so much GTFC!! π€ I just put myself in the βwonβt know, if I donβt go modeβ!! If itβs a flop, well itβs just one to avoid. But, hopefully, Iβll find a few gems! π² π π³ β¦οΈππ½ββοΈ !! πβ€οΈ
Looks like a lovely place to run Fab450, and just in time for winter too!
Yes, running to JOG may well be affected by the weather so we must make whatever progress we can, while we can!ππ
PS, I love running in the rain πββοΈβοΈ It keeps the paths clear of anyone whoβs not a runner or dog walker for one thing, and it gives a sense of achievement for another! See you in virtual JOG some time next year!π
Thanks so much David_G!! π€ Iβm planning to love it too!! π§ ππ½ββοΈ π! I agree, itβs a path clearer alright! ...who knew? Love it!! π
See you on LEJOG! π¬π§ Onwards we go! ππβ€οΈ
Thanks so much Birdlady64!! π€ Itβs a little drive, but not too far. It will be perfect for the next season βοΈ π§ !! Hopefully I will discover at least one more for some variety π. β€οΈ
So beautiful! Canβt believe that the first thing I think nowadays when seeing pictures like these is: βI want to run them so badlyβ. Runners (yes, us runners! π) look at landscapes as a physically experienced surrounding, and I so love that! Enjoy your beautiful route as long as you can during autumn.
My iOS phone also cut that picture of the sign at β...will your leg...β ? π€£π€£π€£
It sure will!!
I found a head torch in an old bag today, and now Iβm contemplating if I am courageous enough to run my beautiful woodland route at night. It looks similar to your middle top one, even a bit denser. But I think Iβm with you on finding a lighted path for my winter runs.
Lovely! Don't worry - with the head of steam you've got up at the moment you will sail through the winter. I started C25k in February and I kept up the programme no matter what - even ran in a smattering of snow and that was for the graduate badge. We have JoG a waiting and there are medals and t-shirts at stake!!! π€£π€£π€£
Yes...π€£π€£!! Thereβs nothing like an incentive!! I did βno matter whatβ running on C25K. I feel that way now too π€€π€€...I want one π π¬π§!! Youβre right!!...If I canβt run...Iβll walk!! If I canβt walk I may crawl!! π€£π€£...as long as we keep going!! πβ€οΈ
Oooh your woods look very inviting! They look perfect for winter runs as long as the paths don't become mini lakes! I bet it smells gorgeous as well after a bit of rain. π
Thanks so much Slinkymalinki!! π€ After our recent downpours, there were just a couple of very shallow little puddles in small areas on the path, so I think this one is good to go!! I imagine that the woods are very good at self drainage!! ππππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈππ½β€οΈ
Wow what a beautiful place to run. Iβm so jealous but you have made me think about driving to run somewhere different mmmmm. Now youβve found it enjoy your runs -it wonβt matter what the weather is wet or snow ππππ€£π€£π€£
Thanks so much Scruff55!π€ I do drive to the bigger parks and different woods to run quite often. The open space and no traffic is worth the extra bit of time and effort! Try it...I think itβs brilliant! ππβ€οΈ
