Can’t quite believe it, new pb for 10k

So this morning decided to repeat my first ever 10k run from 23 July to see if I could go a bit faster...

Pushed myself up to 8k, legs a bit stiff but kept going and could hardly believe it, but I took 6 min 19 seconds off my pb.. !!!! Gone from 1:22 to 1:16, still slow for my age, but this is about my personal improvement. There is no way last Sept when I started C25k I thought I would be able to run like this.

I am absolutely shattered but feel so positive and frankly chuffed to bits.

So all those older, non running ladies out there....you can do it

I almost enjoyed it, ha ha

Congratulations to you on running a 10K PB time of 1.16, well done, perhaps the next 10K will be sub 75 or sub 70 minutes, good luck.

I hope so, it’s a flat run so will add some hills going forward so may be slower for a while, let’s see

Thanks for your support

An amazing 6 minutes 19 seconds off a run is brilliant, congratulations.

A few walks should keep you legs from going stiff.

Once again well done you 👏👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Brilliant run, well done. Don't knock it by comparing with some random age value - think of the number of people your age or younger who haven't even thought of the possibility of leaving that couch - you are indeed a champion runner when you add them all into the equation. Fantastic time for you today. Happy running 🤗

Thanks Grannyhugs, much appreciate your comments, when you look at age grading, It is a bit depressing as I assume data is from good runners as they age, whereas many of us are new older runners. We are getting older and getting faster, well so far anyway!!

I was out with a group of female cyclists today all just slightly older than me, a couple really speedy cyclists, all amazed I did running. It all depends who you talk to and compare yourself with. We are all doing brilliantly 🙆‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Congratulations on that PB. That’s a lot of quickening in very little time... all your hard work is paying off.

Well done, that's a very impressive improvement on your pb 👏 don't think about the time just focus on the improvements 😊

Well done RD, great job, congrats on your 10K PB 👏

Lol, totally get you on almost enjoying it...my sis says to me, "enjoy your run" or "have fun" and I think hmmmm, that's not exactly how I'd describe it 😆

Thanks very much, it’s strange because I plan ahead, anticipate the run, the weather, my route and visualise it. Then on the morning don’t want to go...then make myself get into kit, then I have to go...set off and think, omg why am I doing this, it’s awful, bit stiff or a niggle then get into it

Next thing I’m running along in rhythm, looking at countryside, listening to Runkeeper

Always have a point when I want to stop

Don’t

Finish and feel and look like an old sweaty beetroot

20 min later feel great,

2 hours later want to go again, it’s like a drug

Look back and forget the horrible bits and think, I nearly enjoyed that

Fantastic description of most of my runs there...except I'm not sure I'd want to go again after 2 hours 😉
