Wow 5 k at last

Well managed 2 PBS this morning my first ever 5 k followed by my first ever 50 minutes of running. Got to 44 minutes and thought I would carry on for a bit longer and then ran for 52 minutes. Not sure how fast my 5 k was probably about 49 minutes which I know is slow but not bad for someone who couldn’t run this time last year. So now to finish w3 of JuJus Magic then a couple of rest days. πŸ˜€πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈβœ…

That’s brilliant! It takes me about that long to do a 5k but that’s how I’ve avoid any injuries and carry on progressing. You’re doing amazingly!

Thanks I am just so pleased to finally get there. At the beginning of lockdown I was just about managing to do 20 minutes x3 per week as my ankle was just so painful. Now I seem to be able to manage to run through the niggle that is still there so I am so happy to get to 5 k. The 52 minutes was a bonus really. Not far to 60 minutes though.

Oh perhaps you should rest the ankle a bit more? To avoid any injuries? Running through pain is never a great idea.

Have you looked a this video?

When I had trouble with my foot and ankle it turned out that I was just tying up laces up too tight πŸ˜‚

Good luck with it! You’ll be there in no time

Well done! Sounds like a super rewarding run! I'm currently consolidating, but really looking forward to moving on to Juju's plan! How are you finding it?

It’s a really great plan I tend to try the longer run as my second run of the week then if I don’t make it I still have another chance to get to the time required it’s worked for me so far as I’m only on W3 but ran for 52 minutes this morning which I didn’t find too hard at all. So it’s definitely a Magic plan. Enjoy

Sounds like a great way to approach it! I've heard loads of good things about it so definitely keen to give it a go!!

That’s fantastic! I’m just managing 20 minutes every day but once I get to 30 minutes I’ll look at the plan you’re currently doing, especially as I retire next year so will have more time to run!

Definitely worth doing I was struggling at the beginning of lock down to get past 20 minutes 3 times a week but now managed W3 of JJs magic so if I can do it then so can you. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜›πŸ˜›

Great work that was a fantastic long run for you. You will soon get that lovely shiny 60 minute badge. Do take care of that ankle though. Happy running πŸ€—
