I’m home!

Runner physio turned up on the ward just before lunch on Sunday. I thought she’d come to try me walking with crutches again, but no she whizzed me straight off to the stairs in a wheelchair, pausing only to grab a single crutch from the cupboard. I was so excited that once we got there and I was on my way up she had to tell me to slow down 😂

A bit of a busy afternoon followed, and I finally got home about 6pm, courtesy of some young ambulance drivers who very kindly let me stop to take a picture of the penguin work force that are ‘working’ on the hospital on our way out.

It’s so good to be home. Tiring. But so good!

I’d have posted yesterday, but just being here was exhausting.

I managed to get into the garden - it’s a single step down - this morning for a bit. Didn’t think about getting back inside, it was a little bit terrifying with nothing to hold onto on the side I needed it. 😳

Not a huge amount considering, but definitely still painful. I tried a day without paracetamol yesterday, and it was surprising how much I noticed the lack of it.

Oh! The picture seems to have disappeared!!!

They have these metal sculptures at various points along the corridors, but outside in these little courtyard spaces - I’m always a little annoyed that they aren’t accessible to be honest.

My favourites are the penguins they dress them up for Christmas, and whatever else is appropriate. There was scaffolding up in their courtyard so they have face masks on and are dressed up as workmen in knitted hi viz jackets etc.

So glad to read you are home Maddee. Take it easy, keep up with the painkillers and watch out not to do too much too soon. I’m glad you elaborated on the penguin workforce comment as I was intrigued by that too! 🐧 🚧 😂
