Going for my run in a bit... checked Garmin’s status page, connect is still down. I needed some inspiration, so I’ve been reading and watching running stuff.
I saw this. Apparently, not only was Garmin connect not working at this time, there was some major issue with the GPS satellites (it was before they turned off selective availability I guess) and the guy even forgot his Hoka’s so had to run in some very unsuitable shoes.
As a bit of a techie, I was enthralled by Kipchoge’s attempts to break the 2 hour marathon record... especially the first as there was a film made... but that at the time with no help from computers or data analysis must have been mind blowing to see happen. That track is special... that’s where humans started to do impossible runs. I thought about it when I first ran 30 minutes... I need to run there again one day.
I’d have missed the last one if you hadn’t told me it was on! Saw the last stages of it... something tells me it’ll happen again in a street race soon.
Not so bad for me with Garmin down. I'm at home nursing a broken ankle. I got taken out by a door wedge at work. I reached 7k. Back to the beginning after I'm healed.
