Not to be facetious, but have you tried turning off and on again? It does generally work when mine has the odd hiccup.
Press the bottom left hand button and scroll down to settings. Go into activity tracking, then make sure that it is turned on. Mine was turned off before without me doing it. Otherwise connect it to your PC and Garmin Connect via the cable and do a software update. Hope it works for you.

I have had my VivoActive 3 spontaneously reboot a couple of times in the past, usually if I've fiddled with some of the non-run functions whilst it was recording.
It's sometimes useful to turn them completely off and on again about once a week, eg. after charging.
I don't use auto-recording and have it turned off. I always manually start a run or walk recording.
How accurate do you find the distance on that? My friend has one and she always gets a shorter distance than me. I’ve measured on plot a route and mine is accurate. She has had 3 now as, due to faults, she’s had to send them back to Garmin and has had 2 refurbished ones sent out and they’ve all been inaccurate with distance. Wondered if it was that model.
It's roughly right. I'd measured out a 6km route for yesterday's run and when it finished the 5.75km, it seemed by eye that there was about 250m of the route left.
I've mine set to use both NavStar (GPS) and Galileo satellites, rather than GPS alone.
How do you get navstar? There’s only glonass and Galileo
NavStar is the Sunday name of the USA's GPS system. You want "GPS + GALILEO".
Galileo and Glonass are also Global Positioning Systems (GPS) but using different sets of satellites. The former is run by the EU (formerly with a lot of UK contribution) and the latter is Russia.
My Garmin did the same. I had to tell my phone to ignore the Garmin then reconnect (in Bluetooth settings). All the recorded information then sync'd
I think he means 'forget'. Unpair your Garmin from your iPad, then reconnect as he suggests eg:lifewire.com/pair-bluetooth...
Sorry, yes I did mean unpair.
