First 5km in 30 mins

So I am on the first week of Ju Ju’s magic plan. I am repeating each week 3 times and progressing slowly on account of a hamstring injury so well 2 of Week 1 if you like. My current running goals 1) run 5km in 30 mins 2) run 10km in 60 mins 3) run 15 km. Today I achieved goal 1 and managed my first 5km in 30 mins. It has taken me 18 months to get to this point and I have learnt the value of gradual progression and persistence.

That’s awesome, chipping away at it slowly just proves it can be done

Huge Congratulations. Running a sub 30 minute 5K is a great achievement. I remember running my first 5K in under 30 mins, it was in a 5K road race and I finished in 29:56 . I felt like I’d won the race.

If you run 10K and do 5K interval training you will find that your 5K pace will improve and so too will your endurance thanks to running 10K. It will also translate to 10K. Keep plugging away and you too will be running 10K in an hour. Just like you it took me about 2 years to get sub 1 hour 10K. Good luck.
