Doing 2 5km runs a week and a longer run at the weekend as I work towards 10km (up to 8.5km) running 5km in under 30 minutes now. What is a decent pace to aim for? I appreciate each runner is different, but would like some thoughts on what is seen as a solid time to run 5km xxxx

My optimistic thought is if I could get to a 30 minute 5k, then I could confidently do a quicker back to back, negative split by 1 second and get to a 59:59 for the 10k. Lol.🤔😂😂

7th June, Thursday, Hi Tbae, I get so many healthunlocked posts in a day that I have to date the ones I reply to, so yesterday 6/6 I completed run 1 or week 8, the 28 minute run, it went OK and felt very happy about that, I just ran around the loch near to where I live, after I finished I met a lady walking her dog, I told her that I just had ran for 28 minutes non-stop and she congratulated me saying that she could not walk that long, let alone run it, I hope you are doing well with your running.

Building my long easy run guided by the TPrule from 10K to 21.5 k every alternative week.Going well, it’s along shift , but a good workout.90 mins minimum and onto 2hours.👍👏👏

Well done you!! I'm male, 46 and have also lost three stone (over the past year). Never enjoyed running at all in the past, but now can't stop. Started running around six months ago and now run about three 10Ks a week averaging just under 50 minutes so hitting my 5min/k target. Just build your speed/distance slowly and enjoy it.
I think around 6:00 min/km is generally considered to be "running" and a slower pace "jogging" but that's all ballpark figures. I suppose it depends on your stature and fitness. Sub 30mins is running for me anyway. A true athlete runner might be "jogging" below 5:00-5:30 min/km or 25-27 mins for a 5k though? As you get fitter your easy slow pace will be jogging and going for it will feel like running, but it depends on the individual.
Sub 30 mins is a great barrier though. Well done. I remember my first sub 30mins time and felt like I'd won an Olympic medal! Great feeling. You are a runner!
The reason I rather flippantly said 20mins for 5k is I really believe you have to set these goals yourself and not ask for targets from others. Peoples running experience is widely different even for same gender same age and same physique etc. If you keep running and especially if you keep pushing a little bit every now and again on the speed front, your times will come down organically and safely without trying to hit some unsafe target. Of course when you get to your 20min 5k parkrun, then where do you go?
