Week 1 postponed

So disappointed. I’ve had swollen glands and a bit of a headache since Tuesday which would have been Run 1. I’m still hoping I can get a run in somewhere this week but don’t want to run when I’m obviously so run down.

Darn it. I had written my whole plan in my new diary and now I’ll have to change it, thank goodness for erasable pens!

I hope everyone else is running well.

Hope you feel properly better soon. I'm off running at the moment till my torn calf muscle is better, so I understand your frustration!

Oh no! How long will that take to heel?

I thought it would be just a few days but whenever I think it's ok, it goes again so I'm thinking I need to give it some TLC for perhaps a week to make sure. They say that you can go for two weeks without losing too much fitness, so fingers crossed!

Good luck to you. I think I did something similar but to my side and I haven’t been able to do my strength or stretching exercises properly for over a week. Running was fine and it actually doesn’t hurt when I run but it does when I lie in bed 🤷🏻‍♂️ happy healing to us both 😍

Sorry to have hijacked your post here, HappyNoodle! I hope you are feeling a bit better. X

Sorry to hear of your injury. If it is a tear rather than a strain I think it may be longer than a few weeks. Oldgirlruns had a tear in her calf during c25k and hopefully she will come on to tell you what her physio told her.

If you haven’t already, it’s probably best to seek medical or physio advice before you run again, because you could be making it worse and delay recovery further.

Good luck.

I think I’ll have a chat with my GP about being ill and my side. 😍

Whoops . Sorry that reply should have gone to JeanneMary about her calf.

Sorry to hear that you are not well too. A running break sounds a good idea until you are feeling well again.

Thanks, I'll do that! I've looked up physio advice online but just need to rest it for a while first.

Sorry to hear about your calf JeanneMary - as Dexy5 says in her earlier post, I had the same thing when I was half way through C25K. To start with I left it a week or so to see if it would heal itself but it didn’t so I took myself off to a physio who diagnosed a little tear in the muscle, gave me some calf stretches and said no running for 6 weeks! And that’s with a minor problem- so I think my advice to anyone is really listen to your body and don’t rush back to running before you are fully healed! Good luck!

Thank you. I really like your username by the way! It describes me too. I'll find out if I can go to see a physio. I felt it 'go' during a gentle jog shortly after running but mostly walking up a long steep hill, which had made it feel quite tight. Fortunately I wasn't far from home by then so I was able to hobble home. Since then, I've twice thought it was ok while just walking slowly around the place but then felt it go which really hurts and just makes me swear very loudly! I had a calf strain a few weeks ago in the other leg and this is definitely different and worse so I'm thinking it's a slight tear. Back to ice and rest for now...

Poor you, please take care of yourself and give your body time to recover, running will still be there and you’ll enjoy it all the more when you are 100% fit🤗

Thank you 😊 it’s so frustrating but I know it’s best. I managed 12 weeks of runs and 10 of strength and flexibility so I know I can do it!

That's a disappointment when you're raring to go. Hope you're soon feeling better and maybe give those side planks a miss for a few days? Take care.
