Another 5k ..wth Coach Bennett

Hmmm that was odd. First one I’ve done and I thought I’d set it up so that Spotify would play in the background but it didn’t kick in so I fiddled about a bit and ran Bridge to 10k podcast as well so I had some music for the gaps where he wasn’t talking. I ran a guided run for 35 mins with Coach Bennett but then carried on to the end of the B210k podcast so I could make it 5k.

It seemed to go quicker with him popping up and Wittering away every now and then and I’ll probably use it again - just need to get the music sorted now.

Again nothing speedy and my legs were really heavy as I was trying out my new carpet shampoo machine yesterday. My daughter has one of the larger upright ones for bigger areas but this is a Spot and Upholstery one so I did the settees and stairs and my car and she did my rug that I spilt home made mint sauce on last week so the whole house has smelt of vinegar.

Didn’t realise how hard on the legs it was till I started running. But I was determined to do at least 5k towards my 81k for the month target ( 24k done so far ✔️😁)

On the Loki recovery newsfront he decided to try “Couch to Freedom” yesterday as I was plugging in my shampooer preparatory to doing my car. My plan was to feed the cable through the letter box but as I was doing this he streaked from upstairs, where he’d been on my bed, past me and out the door. I squawked and leapt after him, grabbed once and he slid through my fingers and then luckily he tried to run straight through the bars of the gate... completely forgetting he still has he Buster Collar on. He ricocheted off and I managed to catch him. Little monkey is obviously feeling better. He had been and had his dressing changed in the morning and they had said there’s a long way to go yet but it’s looking good. He obviously thought that meant he could go out for a trot. He sat and sulked for about half an hour when he got back in. Didn’t want treats, didn’t want special cat milk that Lol bought him, .... but he got over it and was happy to be cuddled and told how beautiful he is after that.

Well have to be more vigilant now.

Happy running folks

Good to hear that Loki is recovering well. sounds like you're having a lot of fun chasing him about - you could end up with a sprint pb!

Please can you tell me where/what the Bridge to 10K podcast is? sounds interesting...

I just searched Bridge to 10k on Podcasts on my iPhone. I think it’s on Android too. It’s made by Bluefin software and it’s free. It’s similar to the couch to 5k app. Starts with 3 runs a week of 4x10mins with a 1 min walk between the runs and builds up gradually to 60 mins of running . I had to carry on for another week or so to about 82 mins to hit 10k but obviously it depends on your speed .

This tells you a bit more about it

I had a disappointing run this morning so glad to hear yours went better. Your talk of an escaping cat made me smile. My son and daughter in law went on an 6 week honeymoon and as I’d looked after my daughters children when they went on honeymoon I felt I should offer to look after their cats. 2 cats to be kept indoors for 6 weeks! I went well and they didn’t seem to miss the outdoors until the last week. Less than 24 hours before they were to be picked up one escaped into the back garden. There’s me sitting in the middle of the grass (in February!) calling for her in my “it’s no big deal” voice! Luckily for me it was the one who could be tempted by food so it did end well but it was touch and go!! I kept my mouth shut when they moved to New York!! 🏃🏼‍♀️🐈

This one isn’t allowed out because he has a poorly leg _ it’s been 3 weeks so far and at least that ahead of us. He’s been really good up to now but he is going stir crazy a bit now. And the other 3 going in and out are probably rubbing his nose in it too.

He’s been used to coming and going when he wants for the last nearly 8 years , even though he usually spends most of the day asleep on my bed, it’s the indignity of the litter tray that gets to him. He will try all the windows and doors before finally giving in and using the tray.

They’re very crafty! Hope he gets back to his normal soon

Me too!! It’s wearing me out- like having a toddler in the house again

I think you missed your rest day limberlou with all that carpet cleaning and cat chasing. Your story really made me smile, I love cats, have 2 very naughty young rescue cats and having spent the first 11 months of their lives in a pen I couldn’t get them to go out! A year on they are in and out like yo-yos all day long! Poor Loki, looks so sweet and like butter wouldn’t melt in the picture. 🤗

Yeah he LOOKS sweet!!! He IS really but I feel sorry for him as he has lost his place in the pecking order now and gone from 2nd cat to bottom of the pile . Our 2 youngest were rescues and they are so sassy now at 2 years old. My fluffy black one is trying to become boss cat over my 10 year old tabby girl. Not sure how that is working out ...

Oh hec, you have quite a domestic on your hands there, good luck 😉🤗

I’ve never tried Coach Bennett, but I’m frankly bored of my running playlist even though there are over 100 songs on it, so I might give him a try. Well done on your run this morning LL! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Aww look at Loki. What a sweetheart! It definitely sounds like he’s feeling better, the cheeky monkey! 🐈❤️

He is quite good but he leaves you every now and then to run on your own so I had my music in the background

Ahh, ok, well I like some kind of entertainment in the background. I don’t want to hear me thank you very much! I’ll try a podcast I think. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Yeah I’m the same. If I run without music all I can hear is me puffing and panting and my feet shuffling so I wonder if they are actually leaving the ground

Yes he’s a lot more alert now. Not sleeping so much. But it was easier when he slept all the time rather than planning prison breaks
