Back after vertigo and enforced running break! πŸ€—

My Lockdown running had been going really well initially. I had also started doing yoga again for the first time in many years, as well as using a great work out app to build up strength. Sadly, four weeks ago, having just finished a fairly enthusiastic workout, I got up from the floor - only to have to drop back down again as the room starting swirling! I knew immediately what it was (BPV - Benign Positional Vertigo), as I have had it a couple of times in the past. Not nice. Another similar episode occurred the following day, after which I was left with short bouts of slight swimminess from time to time. So no upside down yoga, no workouts and saddest of all, no running!!😒

The last few weeks things have very slowly improved - some days better than others. I have managed work (in a school) and was able to use the exercise bike when I felt better.

Saturday was my first run in four weeks 😱 - went with OH and we ran our local Parkrun course together ( the hill still hurts!πŸ˜‚) I took it slowly, but felt good - getting out for a run again was soooooo nice! πŸ˜€πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Not running, was horrible, as it always is - so thoughts as always to anyone stuck on the injury Couch for whatever reason. Stay strong and here's hoping you are soon back out there too! πŸ™‚πŸŒˆx

Well done for getting out there again!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ These are strange times we’re living in, and not being able to run makes things far worse!😳 Good luck with your next run!πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘

Thanks David - yes, the running helps massively at the moment ( it always does!) so very glad to be back out there.

So glad you could get out and run Today Sandraj39, and it’s great that your OH came out to support you too.

Take it easy and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Do you know, me and OH don't usually run together Dexy, but decided after that run that we should do it more often! There is a local beauty spot (a short drive away) where we like to walk and it is next on our list...St Martha's Hill. It has a little church right at the top of a huge sandy hill. It will be a killer!!!πŸ˜‚

Yes I like it when we go somewhere different to run. Sometimes together, sometimes at own happy speed and meeting at the end.

That sandy hill sounds tough!

I have walked it many times and am under no illusion - it will be hideous to run ! (I will walk when I need to! )

Great to see your able to get back out there. starting C25K I never realised how important running would be for good state of mind

Hope all keeps going well and until they invent magic running shoes I think the hills will always hurt us πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Oh I feel for you I had a viral form of vertigo January last year and I can remember lying in bed clinging to the mattress while the room whirled round. The most frightening bit for me was my first attack of it came partway along the Link Road to the Motorway and I managed to pull into a lay-by and sat there sobbing. I didn’t know what it was at that time and thought I was on my way out!!! I was on my way to a course and I ended up ringing my son. His mate brought him to me and he drove me home. A couple of weeks later he had it too!!

Took me ages to feel safe driving on my own again once I was better.

Glad you’re back to running again now though

I agree - very unpleasant and pretty scary the first time you experience it! So good to feeling so much better now though! 🀞x

Glad you're back running again, but how horrible. I have a friend who gets it too often and I'm sure it must be awful. Take care 😘

Oh that sounds horrible! I had concussion once after falling from a horse and when I tried to sit up from a lying position the whole room moved round πŸ˜• I am glad you have managed another run, it is awful when we can’t run!
