Shsssssss Wales is quiet, and coming towards you dare I say nearly elegantly is a middle aged (nearly) runningdad in a scary bright eBay purchased shirt ๐.
Colour clash hmmmm perhaps haha.
I was torn in deciding towpath or trails, towpaths won the vote today ๐, it's nice when that run slots into place, stride pattern good, breathing easy even with the warmth of the late morning.. the canal I'm sure is changing colour daily, as the water gets clearer, though I do miss the narrowboats chugging along (except in tunnels). The fish are having a party down there in their watery home, no boats no fishing just ducks and fish!!! Leaving the towpath, heading passed the marina and old golf course, the hill that's best me a while back, is now not a problem๐. Stopping only briefly at the top of the hill for a quick drink, and a loose lace ( that's a first) it's through the quiet lanes looping down across the road back to towpath, back to my swingbridge finish.
And a cool down walk back to the teenagers..... They once thought dad running was hilarious, now I'm just accepted as " oh are you going for a run" how things change ๐
Eldest teen-ager progressing well up to week 3 and those huge 3 minute runs, she's a reluctant runner haha but secretly I think she likes it, teenage new running clothes haha the bug has bitten her ๐..
Happy running you lot, and if you're not why not??? Stop finding excuses ๐
Thank you for sharing that lovely run. Glad daughter is sticking with it - good habits forming. Oh the days when 3min was tough. Happy running to you too ๐ค
Great that you've got your eldest daughter running too.
I've persuaded/converted two of my friends to start C25K since lockdown, one of them texted me yesterday with her elation of having completed week 5 run 3 ( I loved that run too ).
No worries about you not been seen when youโre running on the towpath, early warning system for others to step aside ๐ a running morning with daughter sounds grand.
Ahhhhhhhhh but the teenagers body clock is currently set to snooze since school got cancelled, she's a last minute sorta gal ๐ she's normally late when she's already late ๐. The youngest totally different I have to catch her before she's moved, she's constantly on the go โบ๏ธ
I enjoy reading posts like yours, they always remind me why itโs worth putting my trainers on and going out the door (the hardest bit of any run in my opinion). What I loved most was the debate Iโve just had with myself about whether I too am (nearly) middle aged ha ha
Great stuff Kevin middle aged hmmmm nah that's a defunct expression I think I'm a new generation teenager ๐ or so I tell my girls ๐ฅณ
I'm liking the new running gear! Bright is good, then when the cars are back on the road they can see you. At least that is what I tell myself when I buy bright pink gear ๐. Of course, I have a lot of black gear so a splash of colour is good, even if it is only my socks or my hat.
I'm glad the hill is no longer an issue and those strong runningdad legs and lungs laugh at it. You know you're a runner when the family accepts it as normal. For me, it was when my husband stopped asking why I would want to go out running all morning and instead would encourage me to go out for my run on the days I'm struggling for motivation. Although that may be because I'm a happier wife when I run. You know the saying "Happy wife. Happy life" He lives by it ๐คฃ
Happy wife happy life that's pure Canadian class Sask..... ๐ I remember Mrs wife's one comment " you can't run you're too gangly" anyway tears dried and guess what my little fluffy beloved..... Your hubby can run and he's not too bad at it ๐
My daughter is redoing C25K with her family this time and they called to say theyโd managed the 20 min run this morning. The 5 year old had been sceptical but I assured her if granny could do it so could she. ๐ต๐ป๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐คฃ The 11 year old is just thinking itโs not too cool but my daughter did it with a two year old on her back! Respect.
