My last 5km run felt gruelling. Every step felt hard despite the sun. Then I got to thinking how far I've come. I can do 5km. I can do it without stopping. My breathing was under control. So all ok really, it's still there. I just didn't enjoy it. I've been thinking, I upped my wheat intake (made soda bread and bought hot cross buns) and that seems to make me feel lethargic...
So I gave up on the running and went digging in the allotment. What a joy. All the paths are weed free and laid withbark chippings, a couple of beds dug over, spuds planted and horse manure heaped on a couple of other beds and covered with black plastic. I figure the bending, lifting and carrying count as exercise. Now I'm impatiently waiting for seeds to germinate and grow.
Happy Easter VRBs.

Happy Easter! What a great picture. Did you make the eggs?
Veg gardening is the best strength & flex I know. 👍😄 We moved to have a more manageable garden, and it was the right thing to do, but I still miss my veg patch. Well done you. 👏🏼👍🎉
My boss gave me a good piece of advice the other week. "When you think you're not getting anywhere, look out the back of the boat to remind yourself how far you've come" Seems like you've got that one down pat.
Sorry to hear about your run Baddie, thats interesting what you are saying about the increase in your wheat intake and I’ll bet thats what its down to. I get bloated when I eat bread and it makes running very uncomfortable. All the gardening sounds very satisfying though. Happy Easter. 🥔
Running and gardening sounds like an excellent work out. The Easter weather just calls you to the garden . I consider myself really lucky to have that outside space.
As an ex professional gardener I can certainly vouch for all those benefits. My new boss currently lets me take it out on my garden if I need to escape from the home desk for a bit.
We all have naff runs, they creep up on us and bite us on the bum when we’re least expecting it. And remember, running in the sun when you’ve been used to winter conditions can be hard too.
That’s a great workout there in the garden! I know how hard work that is as gardening is my other passion from running 🤗 it’s so satisfying to see a bed full of weeds and then see your progress when it’s finished. I’m doing a bed atm and clearing a little bit every day.
It is hot out there so running can feel harder but, as you say, you ran and that’s all that matters.....
And homemade soda bread..... lashings of butter and cheese 😋 nothing like the “soda bread” sold in the shops here....
It's always wise to look back and see where you were to where you are now. Some days those runs are just tough but you still went out there. Well done!
You can't beat an allotment workout! Sometimes the spark for running just isn't there. I could'nt summon up the enthusiasm for a run yesterday so went for another bike ride instead which left me feeling much happier! I'm trying to stick to a walk, run, cycle schedule with allotment time in between.
Sounds like you're getting ahead on the allotment - lots of satisfaction on that front!
Gardening is so satisfying isn’t it? And you’ve got all those veggies to look forward to in a few months’ time. A great workout with reward at the end. What’s not to like. Happy Easter Baddie xx
