Just over 5 months post op now.
Happy to report my speed is back up to post op status for my 5km.
I have done three consecutive 5km at my old pace now. I work on the principle, one is a fluke, two is a coincidence and the third is an achievement 😀🏆.
I do think the dynamic core workouts have helped with this as not only am I back to my post op pace I can feel that with a little pushing I could get a little faster.
I am back to my run/walk. I was going to go for full on running but my heart rate didn't like it and therefore I stopped enjoying my runs. So back I went to my 1min/1min run/walk and the happiness returned. I only run for me so I'm going to run the way I enjoy it.
I'm going to keep going with core work as it makes a massive difference in my opinion. I still hate it but it reminds me of the first weeks learning to run, while your doing it every fibre in my body was going WHY…….., then afterwards I felt strong and could feel the difference. I'm hoping that with time I will learn to love it as much as running if I just keep going.
