Ran our local parkrun last Wednesday and it made a pleasant change running on the track as opposed to the concrete footpaths and cycle track I usually run on, although I did miss running with others, which I know we’re all going to have to get used to now, so after reading Sadie-runs book recommendations thought some reading matter might be needed for the weeks ahead. I ordered The Pants of Perspective (fabulous read by the way) and it made sense to save on shipping and I bought 3 more running books too, oh and a fancy pair of cycle pants for OH, just in case of rumblings. Well the above book arrived on its own on Tuesday, the cycle pants turned up yesterday (he’s happy) and the other 3 books are coming in 2 separate parcels. I hadn’t reckoned on those shipping costs ☹️ Never mind, sure they’ll be worth it.
Got out at 1.00 this afternoon for another run for Team HU in the Running Cup and ran 12k, furthest I’ve ever run. I’d put a bottle of water and some flapjacks in our wooden letterbox and stopped by a couple of times to have a couple of munch, slurp and stretch stops and carrying on didn’t feel quite as daunting. Just about ready to go to bed now, no planks tonight but some gentle stretches. Enjoy the rest of your day whatever you’re doing. 😎 Stay well. X

12k wow, what an achievement and it really is runs like this when we see how far we've come. Best wishes.
More wonderful photos from you lexi6, that is a good run for you, 12k to add to the total kilometers for the Vitality World Running Cup Healthunlocked team, I ran a "virtual parkrun" started at the same time as the actual parkruns start at on Scotland, which is 9.30am..
Good morning from NZ Alan, good idea to run your virtual parkrun at the same time as the actual ones, more kilometres for our team whoo hoo! I prefer running in the morning, but with the time zone difference I’ve got no choice, still time to get another run in on Monday morning. 👍
Everything is closed in most countries in the world, however, there were far more runners around than usual whom I saw this morning, passed the local leisure centre which on a Saturday morning is busy with boys football, spin classes, a busy gym, this morning it was all eerily silent, only us runners were about, I suppose its the same in New Zealand with all the leisure centres and gyms closed.
Its hard to know whats going on here Alan, there isn’t a Government directive yet, so far it seems to be up to the local authorities to decide. Gatherings of over a 100 are already banned, so I think a complete ban is going to happen. Public bars and restaurants are still open but have to have a guest list, so people can be traced. Over 70’s are at this stage advised to only go out when necessary and bonus! there’s still plenty of toilet paper on the shelves. 🙂
I love the idea of running past your house for refreshments. I once saw a suggestion of arranging longer runs so that you pass your car at intervals so you can get things out of the boot when needed instead of carrying everything around with you .
I can recommend a hydration vest for those longer runs , and lots of pockets for jelly babies and flapjacks. 😃
Think I might actually buy a vest Dexy, recommendations? yes please, will have to learn to sip rather than gulp though as I did think about having to pop indoors for a toilet stop yesterday but the thought of trying to make the bathroom without the dogs jumping all over me, put me off and I carried on and no bushes in the ‘burbs’ to use😂 hope you and leg are doing OK?
Boootiful! Love it Will definitely investigate thanks Dexy. I have some left over money from our trip last year on my travel card, which the bank has decided to discontinue so anyone with funds left by beginning of June will lose the lot! 🤬 so far bought 4pr anti blister socks, new running belt,1 new pair of running shoes, 4 books about running, 1 pr cycle shorts for OH. Bit of a theme going on here. 😂
Thanks Sandie, I think I might have to try TV Yoga again too, did it once but was so busy trying to watch how to do it and actually do it, ended up with a sore neck. Hopefully we can still get out, we have been advised here to only go out if its necessary. Running is definitely necessary 🙂 xx
Aw! Thanks BBr, having wonderful VBR’s and having all the inspiring people and stories on here made me do it 😂 I’ve had to put my flapjacks in the freezer though, was starting to eat them like biscuits and I never eat biscuits.
Can’t wait for the books to arrive, will enjoy them all the more I think. Xx
