Weather was okay no rain or wind. Had a stitch today and had to stop twice, not sure why . But a lovely lady stopped to see if I was okay and I ended up taking my earphones out and having a conversation the rest of the way . Now I've never had a conversation while running and I actually quite enjoyed it.
Here's to the lovely runners and parkrun volunteers. ๐ค๐ค๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Update, the running world cup duplicate runs seem to be fixed now as my parkrun showed up as 5k

That works my only parkrun outings so far found the course so unbelievably muddy and wet, and given our current corono virus issue I'll wait until the weather ๐ค improves as it'll be much more enjoyable ๐
Good run for you today Buddy34, I am on my way back from Dunfermline, nice atmosphere but some of the people were saying that it could be the last one for a while because of the virus.
Another great ParkRun for you - all the nicer for chats. My vitality runs still wrong, they doubled an 8k I did early last week but missed a 5k I did in sleet on Thursday which I had to manually upload - again. All my runs are manual and only show on team total not on my runs ๐ just as well Iโd be running anyway ๐ค
Glad you enjoyed your run and had a nice chat. Sounds like a good distraction.
Aren't the people at parkrun generally wonderful! Glad you had a good run. My parkrun was a bit of a disaster in some ways. Strava stopped working after 2k. It lost the GPS signal and then couldn't recover the run so I 'lost' the run for Running World Cup purposes. I was intending to do my 9k run for VRWC by going around again but there was no point in doing that if I couldn't track the run. Plan B is now to do the 9k tomorrow evening. On the bright side wen I realised I was going to just do the 5k I speeded up a bit (all things are relative) and managed to knock over a minute off my PB for my local parkrun. Well chuffed with that since the best before today was last May before my long term injury. I think I'm back. Must all be down to the loveliness of Ju Ju's magic 10k plan.
Well done on your 12th parkrun, Buddy34. Nice to have a chat while running, good distraction! I wonder what caused your stitch? Bit dehydrated maybe? Or just going super fast today? The Run Director at ours told us that they will try to keep parkrun going as long as possible and to assume it is on next week. We were asked to hold our own barcodes for scanning, rather than handing them over and also to drop the finish tokens into a bucket so that the volunteers didn't have to touch them. Little things but I guess could make a big difference.
Definitely not dehydrated I still drink 2-3 litres per day and wasn't going faster so haven't a clue. As for tokens etc that's exactly the way we were told do it and the voulenteers were wearing gloves. The RD was trying to tell people this new information today and as per usual some people were talking but she wasn't long in shutting them up, in a polite way ๐คฃ
I did a parkrun in Belfast yesterday morning. Same there, no bunching at the start line, everyone had to be an arms distance away from everyone else, hold your own barcodes and finish tokens at the end for scanning and tokens went into a bucket so as they could be disinfected afterwards. No Tea, Coffee or cake afterwards. Everyone dispersed and went home. It all felt very safe and well organised. Outdoor is safe. I hope parkrun keeps going. Larger events of over 500 might be an issue though. Itโs cancelled in the Republic of Ireland.
Well done on your 12th PR. Wondering about running the route of my nearest PR on my own too, as I wouldn't be confident running in a group unless I knew the route very well. (Because of dodgy ankle).
Well done Buddy. I was in Belfast with work on Friday night and stayed over. I brought my running gear and did Queens parkrun yesterday morning. It was so nice to be running on a beautiful calm, bright spring morning. All the parkruns in the Republic of Ireland were cancelled, so it was an extra bonus to get one done. I was tired and really wanted to take a walking break at 2.5K, I had to wrestle with my brain to keep pushing along. A kilometre later I was fine. The support of people at parkrun is fantastic.
I was wondering if your parkrun's were cancelled Damien.
At ours they asked people if they needed to spit/ sneeze etc could the do it into a tissue and all the voulenteers wore gloves then all the finishing tokens are getting a deep clean.
Not sure if it will be going ahead next week , it's just a case of wait and see ๐
Wow running and talking ....always admire people who can do that. I have to concentrate on just breathing sometimes lol!! Great stuff, glad you are ok. Love the folks at parkrun!
Well done Buddy34. I too am really enjoying the Parkrun. Only done 3. One of the volunteers found my jacket for me amongst the pile as I told them on the way round I'd left me barcode in there. They told me I didn't actually need it immediately after finishing but they hadn't wanted me to worry about it. So nice of them
Re your stitch I read that you are more likely to get one if you have anything in your stomach. Do you have breakfast before Parkrun?
Yes I do have breakfast 2 hours before running as I always do as I couldn't run on an empty stomach . Not sure what caused it just hope it doesn't happen again๐ค.
