The running jump

Given that they don't come around very often (the next occurrence being until 2048), I suspect, like many people, I was quite glad that Jorge hadn't decided to turn up yet and gatecrash this very rare parkrunning event.

Dunbar has a reputation for being the sunniest place in Scotland (and that's not really the low bar that many of you might think) but today it was overcast and grey and quite chilly. It was, however, dry with only the lightest of breezes. Conditions underfoot were decidedly muddy and slippery in places, so it was never going to be an especially fast run, but that didn't matter. Looking at the split times, it is almost possible to pick out the muddier stretches from those sections that were firmer.

Today's time of 31:11 was my second best for the Lochend Wood's course, but for once I actually managed to get my pacing right and was able to get through the dreaded 3.5-4k stretch, where it frequently all goes wrong, without mishap.

My customary post-run coffee and slice of cake duly consumed, I left overcast "Sunny Dunny" and headed home which, for once, was under blue skies and was feeling almost springlike...

Great run. I did an early 5k in dundee leaving just as traffic jams started as park runners turn up. As you say, very muddy day but as always great to get out. Happy running

I'm pleased with it. They're thing was that, unlike last week, it was actually on. There are a couple that are closer to me, but Lochend Woods has quite a low turnout, so sorry to support it whenever I can.

I think our local one has a high turn out and is along the town seafront so we haven’t fancied it, i had another look at your times and they are nearly half my 6k times yesterday that’s awesome, i want to try a shorter faster run next but we were battling wind and rain yesterday so jogged in very slowly

Great running and time StrongFuse. I'm usually not bad at pacing myself but today I went off far too fast for me then spent the whole parkrun trying to catch my breath.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🤗

It only happens at parkrun. I seem to have a momentary glitch around 3.75k. I suspect it's just the difference between running in a group and running on my own. I can't let myself get dragged along at an inappropriate pace when it's just me...

Even here in the soft south, lots of us were out this morning to o bag a run before Jorge hits. 😊 That elusive yellow blob in a blue sky was very welcome. Didn’t realise I might get a badge... 🤔😄 Happy running.

It's odd the things that well do just to pick up a special edition Garmin badge...

Good run and times sTF for you today, I ran my 16th parkrun at sunny Dunfermline, the strange thing about today was that there were exactly the same number running that were there when I was last ran at Dunfermline three weeks ago, 216, the only difference was my time of 33.38, which is, 7 seconds slower than three weeks ago, 1 minute 37 off my PB, nevertheless, like you I enjoyed my run this morning. 😊 🏃🏾

Sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed that run.

Good going!

It was one of those where everything just clicked into place, even if the muddy stretches meant there was no chance for a PB today. It was just one to be enjoyed for the sheer sake of enjoying it.
