I've just got in from a late run for me, as I'm usually a first thing in the morning kinda girl.
I had set myself the target for this morning of running 9km to build on my epic treadmill run on Friday. I awoke early but then realised it was only 5:00 and not yet light enough for me too run as my balance is compromised by dark lighting conditions, and I knew it would be challenge enough with the partially thawed snow that had turned to ice, with out adding my own personal waltzer effect into the mix. Vestibular vertigo can make life so interesting sometimes, but not this morning... I decided to snooze for an hour or two and then run.
However my light snooze turned into a three and a half hour deep sleep. So by the time I awoke there was only time to get showered and dressed before venturing out to church. I decided to possibly save my run for later or even tomorrow. Later in the morning I was off to my daughter's and her boyfriend's house which they are renovating. When I say they, I really me we, as Mr Raz and I were enlisted today to paint ceilings (Mr Raz as I'm not too hot up a ladder - see previous on my balance issues πππ) and to do filling and complete some botched boxing in of pipes (my job, although it wasn't me who'd botched the pipes, but the lovely workmen who being drop dead gorgeous identical twins had not been told what a shoddy job they'd done, so it was down to me to put it right). By 4pm we'd all had enough and downed tools.
Once I got home for some reason my Mojo was just itching to get out and run, so after scraping the decorators caulk and filler from my hands, removing my crusty work gear, I was into my kit and off before any gremlins could get in my way.
I don't usually use the same playlist on consecutive runs, but I knew there were many of the show tunes from my Musical Theatre Playlist that I hadn't heard on Friday and I was keen to run along to them. So me and my jazz hands headed out into the great outdoors with T-Rex singing Ride a White Swan. An excellent track to get me started, and I was pleased that on the rest of my run there was single track repeated from Friday and there were some real belters. At times I had to resist the urge to sing along.
Due to some very slippery bits, my run was slowed down quite a bit: 9km in 55.21. And in fact the slowest part was downhill on the Dallow Downs which were so icy I had to walk all the way. But we made it - me and Mojo - and we're both really chuffed.
