Hello and a huge welcome to week 3 of the 10 is the Magic Number 10k plan. Apologies this is a day late, life has got in the way ; Like a lot of you, I work full time and have a family, so itβs so hard to fit everything in.... so I have come to my mums in Hayle for a breather for the weekend. Iβm really excited to be running here in a bit, itβs my favourite place for running, although mum doesnβt want me going near the cliff edges as itβs quite windy here, but I really want to get to the seal colony if I can, as itβs well worth the effort. Enjoy your runs today, itβs going to be wild and fun πππΊπ½π¨
Wow this plan is going quickly!! Itβs great reading about how you are getting on, you are all doing so well. Please keep posting or reply and let me know how you are getting on. So, here is this weeks vid, and this weeks top tip is: HILLS.
I had some scheduling issues this week (slept in) and consequently did evening runs and feel a little bit out of sync but I have just now completed my 39 minute run! Feels good to be back on track π
I feel some scheduling issues coming on! I'm going to Rome on Thursday for the rugby until Monday so think I'm going to be a bit out of sync this time next week! It's good that you're back on track and no doubt feeling more in control βΊ
Whether you get to the seals or not I hope you enjoy your run in wild and windy weather π
I'm having a bit of a nightmare!! I was half a week or so late starting thanks to a cold and only manged 2 runs before picking up the next cold from the little munchkins last weekend. I'm really hoping to get out Monday evening... but I don't know what to run. Do I just do run 3 of week 1 which for me is the 5.5k and then as long as that goes ok just carry on with the programme, albeit a week or so behind?
Thankyou the run was fabulous.... and donβt panic. If you have been unwell and off for a while, start with the shortest run to see how you feel. Re the distance it depends how you feel..... if the 5.5k felt okay then perhaps carry on. However there is no rush and itβs always best to do these things gradually.
Hi juju, just ran the 2.5k from week 1 again tonight, nice and steady, going to try the 5.5k on Wednesday... fingers crossed... and that will be week 1 done!
Thanks Juju. Week 2 completed today. I am enjoying these wet and windy runs and enjoying following the timed plan this time round - itβs helping me to stop being obsessed with my pace. Happy running to everyone this week.
Had to skip a run because of the storm last weekend, but Sunday is run day, so won't be skipping that one! Am going to finish last week's plan with a 6k tomorrow and then get back on the plan on Tuesday.
I also have my nephew here, so will be trying to get him out on the c25k week 1 for the week! He has promised to teach me dead lifting if I show him running! Yay!!
I managed 3 runs last week for the first time since December.
A totally mixed bag starting with 3k when I wasnβt feeling great, followed by a terrible 5k with lots of walking. I then did my first pre-work run of the year as it is finally light enough - yippeee!! Definitely got my confidence back running at this time of day. It was 5k with no walking which was great although it didnβt fit into the plan so I think I will do week 2 next week.
Thanks. I must admit I was beginning to worry that Iβd totally lost the ability to run π.
Sadly the weather is too bad here to run today and annoyingly I have come down with the cold all my colleagues have had for the past week. I thought I had avoided it π€. Oh well.
Hope you managed to get to the seal colony. Happy running.
Thanks Ju-ju- made a start on week 3 with the long run. I had an easier run than I was expecting as Dennis seems to have calmed down this morning. I also made a point of incorporating some hills before popping into the canal and running both stretches I normally choose between (to get my distance up) with the wind behind me. 7k done π
I ran 7k tonight π The last 1.5 were hard going and I had to dig a bit deep to finish . Iβll definitely be getting my 60 min badge next week for the 8 k run , is this ok or should I drop back to time ? I was 54 minutes for 7k and itβs only week 3 . ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
I ran with my son for the first time and he didnβt break a sweat lol - he then smashed out the extra 3K for a 10 . Heβs never run so slow but he said it was actually good to keep a constant ish pace and may think about a half marathon . Happy running everyone πππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
huge well done... if you feel OK then great to carry on.... keep taking it gently on the longer runs. They aren't about time, just getting the distance in. Well done
Week 2 done! Week 3 now started but a bit later than planned due to Storm Dennis. Set out yesterday morning for my first run and to test how I felt before deciding whether Iβd do 30 mins or go for the 44. Plodded along usual style and legs felt really heavy. After 20 minutes stopped to do some calf stretches as they had tightened up. But then on my way again and decided to keep going to hit the 44 minute run! Wanted to end at a certain point and found Iβd run for a total of 51 minutes - Wow I was tired and my legs ached! But I did it (and a bit more besides). Hopefully runs 2&3 will be a breeze now for week 3 π
I did my short run of week 2 today, doing 1 min intervals of slow and faster (ie not quite as slow!) It felt good. My next run should be the parkrun on Sat. I have done 45 parkrun to date, so am on track to have completed 50 by Easter. I am hoping that being able to run longer distances will make it easier to improve on my 38 - 40 minute parkrun times.
Week 3 completed. I have been dreading todays 5k and I realised why when I started to get ready. I wore my 3/4 normal leggings on Tuesday for my short run because the long warm ones were in the wash and I got cold... Appropriate clothing for this afternoon's drizzle and off I went, happy. Bring on 8k on Sundayπ
I did my 3.5k run today. After 5 min warm up, I did intervals of 1 min easy, 30 sec faster. I actually ran 3.79 k in just under 28 min (which is fast for me). I cannot believe I have run over 15 k in the last week!! No parkrun this weekend as we are away, so next run will be Tuesday.
