...with my returning to running Running Buddy. What a gorgeous afternoon for it!

Edit: friend took a pic of me running ahead of her with Taylor B and Merlin 🤦‍♀️

The Powers the Be appear to be dumping chalk along the top of one of the banks as some kind of flood defence, so we took avoiding action by heading onto the hard trail on the other side of the hedges for a while, before cutting back across a field to rejoin the river itself. The tide was out so we let the dogs off when we turned back after about 21/2k and let them free run (aka get wet and muddy).

We ran/walked the lower path back, with the sun doing a good job of blinding us to the puddles 😎 And paused to explore where the chalk ‘bank’ has appeared. Turns out we had made the right decision avoiding it on the way out - chunks of chalk that haven’t quite been trodden into the mud yet do not make for a good (or particularly safe) running surface.

Running Buddy must have overheard me telling roseabi that I needed to find some form of cross training that I like enough to keep doing, as she was telling me about the cycle group she’s been going out with who sound awesome (to someone like me who is not a very brave cyclist) so hopefully, I’ll be able to get out with them soon(ish).

Another great run, hope the chalk settles in giving a good surface soon. Hope the cycle group are kind to you and help build your confidence.

Apparently they are really kind to beginners - she said she joined them then went out and bought a bike, after not being on one in about a decade!

I love the river this time of year when it’s glassy clear and the sky is reflected in it mGood running, not a bad thing they are building the banks up

It is very gorgeous.

It’s a good thing, I just wish there was a notice up to tell us what was happening when, if I’d come across it in the dark, I’d probably have ended up falling.
