Talking about running

Honestly I'm not really safe to let out you know. The meat order arrived at work, generally we let him in the back of the kitchen, count and sign and off he goes. But if course, not sure how, but we started talking about running, apparently his other job is a running coach, so before I knew it we were doing squats, discussing form and he suggested a kettlebell 😀 showed me some exercises to do with it and explained why it was important!

Half an hour later I went back to the office and said " crikey that bloke can talk" when they stopped laughing someone said "what were you talking about" my answer running set them off again .

I worked my day off this week so no actual run happened.

I've ordered a kettlebell 😀

Run happy all

Brilliant! I think only you could end up in this situation Sola! Enjoy that kettlebell and the free running coaching!

I'm getting a bit obsessed, can't wait for end of April

Doing squats out the back at work with the meat man! ? Shame on you..😂

I've thought about a kettlebell but I reckon it would only go the way of the dumbells and resistance bands.

A bit like the jar of Five Spice- if you've seen that Michael McIntyre sketch

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toBirdlady64

I haven't seen that sketch I'll see if it's on YouTube.i know! I am really not safe. But he had such good advice lol. I'm a bit if an embarrassment because I end up talking running to everyone who comes through the door, so many men run too! Our surveyor is great, I think he visits more for our chats now than checking on the building works.

I think it is exciting... and I do use all my spices... I only buy ones that I use, they are all in date and I DO use Chinese five spice on a regular basis on favourite recipes. Turmeric is one I use a lot of, as it has many health benefits and it tastes great in loads of things! I do use my resistance bands and my small set of dumbbells !

Useful information comes from the most unexpected sources. I discovered quite by chance, that my butcher is a wonderful craftsman with wood! I now have the most beautiful set of eggcups and other things are being made as we speak. We talk about cycling and running all the time too!

Go you I say... well done!

I'm with you Birdlady64 ! Aldi's discount box had resistance bands, wrist and ankle weights, skipping ropes, hula hoops, balancing thingies and other stuff today. I found myself thinking it was all super bargainous and then realised I'd never use it. So it stayed where it was!

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply toCmoi

An excellent display of willpower there Cmoi, well done you!

Cmoi profile image
CmoiGraduate10 in reply toOldgirlruns

Well, the fact that I'd never use any of the equipment helped! 🤨

Wrist weights at Aldi you say 🤔 (completely misses point ! 😁)

Cmoi profile image

Bear in mind I'm in France grumpyoldgirl - offers and stocks don't always arrive here at the same time as in the UK. Definitely worth checking out though!

grumpyoldgirl profile image

My local Aldi seems to operate in its own time zone anyway when it comes to the special offers😬

I’m that person at parties that everyone avoids 😂 Get me started on fitness, running, nutrition, gym and that’s it, you’re stuck with me. 😂 I’ve got better at spotting the glazing of eyes though.

I don’t think I’ve ever been as healthy or strong since I started strength training though. It’s transformational.

Good luck with the kettle bell weight. Loads of exercises you can do with those. 👍 Proper form is essential though!!

I too am that person Brian, I think next time he brings our meat order he might just leave it at the door and drive off 😂

Week7 profile image
Week7Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Yep I've been sat here reading , watching and chuckling. So good to find a group of like minded people with a sense of the ridiculous. Do you think all runners are like us?

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toWeek7

I think most of us are serious about running but if we run we feel happiness bubbling inside which makes us a bit fun to be around. And hey, when someone says how are you, it's much better to say, really happy this week because I managed to get out for a run thanks, than, my backs a bit better but now I've got a sore throat, isn't it? They think I'm nuts at work because I have so much bounce and energy and can't understand why I'm retiring, they don't understand why I would want to put that bounce and energy into running and swimming rather than getting up at silly o clock and earning money, trouble is work seems to be taking most my bounce and energy now so roll on end of April

Week7 profile image
Week7Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

So excited for you!! Totally love the idea of spending days walking, running, swimming and actually doing crafts etc ( ie using all those Aldi middle aisle bargains that seemed like a good idea).

End of February already- it won't be long now😊

After today I'm on leave until Thursday then my boss is off for 6 weeks so I'm boss for 6 weeks (that just means doing her job as well as mine and everybody else's) that'll see most of march and April out and my last week is annual leave too so... Super excited 😀

Great Willow. Look forward to your journey with your kettle bells. Think I’ll stick to dumbbells . At the shop when we were working it was a paint shop I could have used the 5 litre tins as kettle bells but knowing my luck the lid would fly off and paint everywhere.

Ah brilliant Sola! Kettlebells are an excellent way to exercise, here’s a picture of my collection plus some rollers I keep in the corner. You’ve prompted me to pick them up and use them today! That man sounds like a jolly useful person to know, who knows what he’ll have you doing next time he delivers 😁.

Mine will sit in the corner looking reproachfully at me along with my saxaphone, clarinet and laptop, but I have high hopes of using all in a daily basis end if April, along with all the good nutritious food I'm going to eat and running I'm going to do, wish me luck

grumpyoldgirl profile image

I do, all the luck in the world 🍀Don't get those things mixed up, you don't get much of a tune out of the kettle bell!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply togrumpyoldgirl

I don't get much of a tune out of the other things either lately, but I have this huge plan and am going to be very disciplined for the first couple of weeks and then I'm going on holiday, 8 weeks and counting

I'm loving mine, it sits in the kitchen and 10 squats is a lot harder than without, I also do other things, when I'm back tomorrow I'll watch some YouTube videos
