Long run of week 2 done in the torrential rain on trail with my new running club.
It was the clubs mixed ability hill training course, and it was slick with mud. I managed to survive the many ups and down without falling so thatβs a bonus π. Thankfully my subgroup was slow enough for me to enjoy it. I managed to run all the hills to the 5k mark but everyone walked up a nasty long one near the end. It was hard getting going again as my legs felt light lead; especially as I must have been carrying an extra stone in water and mud by then. I actually wrung out my t-shirt when walking up the hill π§.
Total distance, including the slow jogging round the group on rest breaks (waiting for back runners to catch up) was 6.8km, around the Wrekin πππΌπ₯΅. My longest run so far πββοΈπππ€ͺ
I loved running in the trees and trail and especially in the rain, as it kept me lovely and cool. Though Iβm sure I wouldnβt feel the same on a cold grey morning π³.

Thanks. Itβs a big club, over 200 members I think. They do lots of different ability groups and alternate hill weeks with speed weeks on Mondays. But they always have a normal 5k run from the usual club meet point as well as whatever else is going on. As for the mud splashing, my subgroup was 14 people and as it was trail mostly running single file/2 abreast. There was no escaping the mud lol π π
I love parkrun too π I will be doing my 50th on Saturday π. But I should qualify that by saying the first 20 or so were sporadic attempts spread between 2014 & 2018 and all of them until the last few weeks have involved lots of walking lol π . Itβs only since New Years Day and then starting C25K on here that thereβs been any consistency or indeed improvements. Still slow but I am a runner now πββοΈπ
