Brittany runs a marathon

No my name's not Brittany and I've not run a marathon but I'm on week five of B210K (that's another bit of an untruth as I only did a 5k run last week and have decided to leapfrog a week, then back track if I need to) and this week's extra is read about running.

Home, treadmill 4k then hit Prime for something to watch while dinner cooked, saw the title and thought why not..a rom com running film instead of reading about running.

Well...for me it hit all the triggers for why I started running a year ago and why I'm still running now. I was a sniveling wreck at the end but wow, so motivated! It won't win an Oscar but it wins an award from me! 🥇Somethings happen for a reason and I think watching that film was one of them for me. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I watched that at the weekend too, and while the character and I are quite different, the running to better yourself is probably something that we all share. We got this!

When it comes to running movies, Run Fatboy Run is definitely my favourite.

Good luck with the plan and I hope you skipped week doesn't come back to haunt you.

I'll have a look at that! If I'm not feeling it then I'll simply repeat this week again next week and carry on. Unlike Brittany in the film I do listen to my body if anything I'm a bit of a wuss so will not 'carry in regardless' 😇

Someone else mentioned this film to me this week so after my 8k tomorrow i’m Going to put my feet up and watch it.

Well done on completing week 5, that 10k is so close. Happy running.

Hope your 8k went well, I did mine this morning, slow..slow but I did it! Enjoy the film x

Hi. Well done on your 8k. I also completed mine.

I drove to Southampton Common which is about half an hour away but it’s big and really lovely so I thought a change of scene would help. I only run on the flat and had forgotten about the hill! It has an elevation of 59 so for most people that’s nothing but it felt like it was going on forever. At one point I actually turned around to head back down but there was a young couple who were walking and running so I tagged on with their run for the last bit.

After that it was fine apart from the rain which started at 4k. I got absolutely soaked but actually didn’t mind it. My breathing was fine but my right shin and left knee was sore for the last 2k.

It’s quite frustrating when the lungs work but the legs don’t want to play!! Anyway I did it and I didn’t stop or walk so I’m happy. Just need to concentrate even more on strengthening my legs.

How was your run?

Congratulations on your 8k!! 🥇 I found unexpected hills too as the extra distance means I've got to expand my running area and I walked for a bit on two hills. But my watch so good that it is goes on auto pause when I walk so I ran untill I got to 8k. Did NTC post run stretches which were different and felt good.

Happy runnings xx

Fantastic well done. I remember someone telling me when I was training for a bike ride that hills are your friend!! I still don’t believe them 😂 but they will make us stronger.

Have a great week.

Just watched the film and it made me cry too!! How amazing to be able to run a marathon.

It must be amazing and very emotional! So..is a marathon on your plan???

Definitely not!! 😂. I do wonder, however, if when I get to 10 miles I might be tempted to do a half marathon but at the moment I don’t think so.

I imagine I will be a 5k runner in future but who know.s. Hoe about you?
