Three runs & a bit of illness

Three runs and a bit of "interesting" illness last week - Norovirus swept though the family. I get everything that's going, but despite caring for four sick individuals, including a hospital trip, this one passed me by.

However - Norovirus: would not recommend!

I'm still not sure about my chest - there's a teensy bit of a cough, though it's so much better than it was. I was able to run at the start of the week - almost 3k; midweek - just a bit over 3k; and at the weekend - a bit over 4k. About 28 minutes the first two times and about 30 minutes the last time.

These are weird runs - I am running for about 8-10 minutes and then walking whenever I feel like it. Not keeping track of pace, but it's clear that when running, I'm often too fast. Though it doesn't feel fast (in fact it feels comfortable) ... until I lose ooomph and then I stop and walk for a bit.

All I'm really interested in at the moment is the fact I'm running. Building up to anything or focusing on targets is pretty much irrelevant as I want to regain/retain fitness.

(Though no goody-goody am I: I used my chest as an excuse to avoid the miserable mizzle this morning!)

Good to see you bouncing back after all the setbacks! If you’re losing oomph though, might be an idea to slow down - at least on some of the runs. If you’re running faster and walking, it’s more like intervals 😊

Good runs and wow at the photo, when I run faster it feels comfortable until I loose oomph too then walk a bit, if I run really slow I can keep going for much longer, at the moment I'm mixing it up, long slow today, shorter faster with walk breaks next run, hopefully over time my longer won't be slower than walking pace 😁

I slowed down a bit this morning and ran a bit further as there were no walking breaks!

🍏Magnificent photo! Wow!! Lovely run too. Glad you escaped horrid Norovirus! Take care & glad you can take time out … probably help you escape the winter viruses!

I'm hoping to get that fitness back and fight off the bugs too!

Glad you missed the norovirus-that’s no fun at all! Love the photo. Hopefully the recovery will continue-it’s often a slower build back than we’d like (talking to myself here too!) but you’ll get there. Patience is hard but worth it!
