It's not forever xx
For those of you on the IC....: It's not... - Bridge to 10K
For those of you on the IC....
I’m having to take a break Mummycav ! I have had some lower back pain since my last run. I think experiencing recent hamstring tightness, cold sore, and now a new niggle arising, it’s time to have a complete rest! Giving in, but not giving up! 🤗❤️
Hey Fabulous450 , you have been a proper trooper through all your set backs lately...honestly, you have shown some sheer determination fab and that's what sets us runners apart from the others...we know how much we would miss running if we had to give up so thats what keeps us getting out there...until it has to stop, just for a little while so our bodies can completely recover. Listening to your body is the wisest thing, you know it...and that's exactly what you're doing,no point trying to run on a niggle...you know that would end up a long stint on the IC. Be kind to yourself Fab..you need plenty of TLC and a rest...running is out there waiting for your return...and we will wait patiently for your next run. Sending you a big warm, Yorkshire hug Fab...look after yourself...you can come out on my shoulder with me xx
Aah thank you so much Mummycav! It was hard to say and it’s hard to let go, but I can honestly say that I was taking it slowly and running short and yet still having little problems. My son said take two weeks off and rest, just do nothing, about two weeks ago (👀... two weeks?🙄....🥱.....”No”....)! Tuesday morning he was saying, “Mum, I told you so”! I guess it’s my turn to listen. 🤷🏽♀️! It’s actually a bit of a downer! But, I’m working on acceptance! As I would say to others. I’m a runner on pause for now! 🤗❤️
Runner on pause u definitely are!!
Take it easy for a while and you'll be back fighting fit. 😊💪
Take care Fabs, hopefully some rest will settle those niggles down again. Your back might not like too much sitting down though.😘x
I'm sorry to hear this Fab. I've had a tight hamstring for what seems like forever and Physio told me it was due to weak medial glutes. I've known for about 6 months that I need to focus on some strength training but haven't managed to do it regularly and have fallen guilty of getting back on the couch. Listen to your body and if it persists, perhaps a trip to Physio is warranted. I'm trying to follow my own advice. Baby steps, baby steps 😆
Thanks SaskAlliecat! 🤗 The hamstring feels a lot better. Just a little sore in the back today, but I’m taking it slow and will build back up some energy and stamina before going back out again. I’m with you! Trying to take my own advice. 🤗❤️
I'm so glad to hear that your feeling a bit better today. I found a short glute/hamstring/hip stretching video last night and it limbered me up nicely. Now I'm off to a shallow water fitness class with my running partner who is working herself on the IC. We'll be the youngest ladies there likely. I can't wait 😊
That sounds fabulous SaskAlliecat! 😁The youngest in the group too! Why not?! 🙌🏽❤️
It was a blast! There was one other lady our age with 25 -30 senior women and men. We went into the deeper end and had a great time. We're planning on making it a weekly crosstraining activity.
That is exactly how I feel today MC..right Grunpy.🙄
So kind of you to think of all of us stranded on the IC, as you know (from the Quest) my recovery has been held up by acute foot pain. It hurts.
Thank you for the reminder that it's not forever.... 🙂xxx
So sorry to hear this Jan. I've been so out of touch lately with just trying to get through each day that I didn't realize you were back on the IC. Do take care of yourself.
Thanks MC - sometimes it does feel like forever!!😢
After 10 weeks on the IC it certainly feels like forever 😉👣👣👣
I recently spent about 14 weeks on the IC - every week you're there makes that first run back so much more enjoyable. Hold that thought. I was literally beaming, waving my arms in the air, laughing and crying all at once - so much emotion and happiness trying to escape in those first few metres 😍 - lucky I wasn't taken away for assessment! You'll get there.
A big hug to all on the IC! For those of you still able/allowed to walk. Stick to your running days, but walk the 30 mins instead. It keeps the routine going so you can slide back in easily once off the IC. Thinking of you all 💐🍫 🤗
Thanks Mummycav ! I have been on the IC for nearly 5 weeks with a pulled calf. I am definitely grunpy! It is so frustrating as it seems to be getting better and then as soon as I start to increase my walking, or try a few steps of running, it is back to square one.
It does make me realise how much running helps my mental health and how grateful I will be when I can run again!
To everyone on the IC, get better soon!
Xx
Awww Mimirossi ...sorry to hear you're having a stint on the IC...but it is only temporary...you will be on full form very soon I'm sure...and yes, the time away from running will make your return so much sweeter...sending you some healing hugs xxx
I am loving all this love you're all showing each other on here!!!! Go you lovelies xxx
