Just a quick note to say that the knee that I hurt on Thursday's 7Km is not getting better as fast as I expected. It's no trouble if I stay still, but walking is very painful.
I'm icing and gelling and wearing a compression tube. But I am not going to risk the Parkrun tomorrow.
Have a great weekend runners!❤

Take care and don't rush your return. I've been out for 3 weeks with an ankle injury. Done a gentle 2k today to see if l can ease myself back in. Injury is so annoying, l wish you all the best with your recovery .
I’m so sorry to hear about your knee theoldfellow, but you are doing the right thing to rest up until it feels better. Those parkruns will still be there when you are back to full fitness again and you don’t want to make things worse. 😥
Bit of a pattern developing here though? Is the fantastic support and encouragement on here pushing some of us on faster than our bodies can keep up with? Just asking ....... 🙄 after a couple of dodgy weeks myself.
Going down is worse than going up. It really does take practice to get it right. I'm finding benefits in smaller steps but much higher cadence. Sometimes I just slow it right down, depends on the kind of hill. It would be so much easier to just roll down! 🤣🤣
I remember some niggles in my knees when I first started increasing my running distance. I found knee exercises on NHS nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/k... that I did for awhile once they felt better and it seemed to help. First follow the RICE principle though - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevate until it feels better. If it doesn't feel better soon, best to get it checked out.
Knee is a lot better today. Still not ready to run on it, but I can tell it will be OK next week. I missed the Parkrun, but as Dexy says, it'll still be there next week.
