After an amazing 1st 10k distance last week I managed 3k on Monday at a very slow easy pace. Woke up Tuesday to find I’ve done something to my shoulder/ neck. Thinking it’s unwise to run as can’t move head without a twinge it also means it’d be tricky checking traffic 😭 I’ve taken my canine partner walking instead this week which is lovely but it’s just not the same. Missing run days feels so wrong.
Can’t wait to get back out there. 😰

I had ache like this last week . What worked for me was constantly moving my neck and rotating my shoulder and lots of deep heat. Hope this might help 😊😊
Thank you grumpyoldgirl. I think I have some ibuprofen here. Should’ve took some before bed! Xxx
I had big problems with this a few years ago and a friend suggested the following:
Gently, try and turn your head one way and then the other(as if you are trying to look over your shoulder), as far as it will go x5, then try and touch your shoulder with your ear on each side x5, then try and touch your chin to your chest and then tilt your head back as far as you can x5. Do this through out the day and it will help easing it up.
I have a dreadful habit of letting all my tension go to my neck and shoulders. I must have been a turtle in a previous life as my shoulders are frequently up to my ears and I have to consciously drop them. If I'm wound up on a run I can end up with the same issue too...
Also in cold weather, if not wearing a buff my neck can get chilled.
Sorry you are not feeling great, usually with things like that it’s a pulled muscle or just slept at an awkward angle. Keep and eye on it and hopefully it will be better in a few days
